Changing Background Image

I want to start off SLOWLY I have a 3D image I want to use as a background for my "bootscreen". I keep reading these tutorials and the more I read, the more confused I get.

1) Is there a limitation on the color bit for background images that I can use on my "bootscreen", not logon screen. I know it is 16 bit for animation but what about background bmp's?

2)  Is it a requirement that bootscreens be animated?

3) I have tried using Window7 Boot Updater I have 64 bit and it simply is unstable when I even attempt to open a folder to view bootscreens already made either here or at Deviant Art. Is there a simpler software...for MAJOR Bootscreen Dummies like me? (I am sure I am not alone in this

4) I honestly want to add animation to it and I know it has to have under 105 frames or less and will repeat.

I am simply stuck in getting it started. I do not plan on making my own animation -- found one I want to use and I can manage that part I believe, since from what I have viewed animations have been placed in various parts on that screen in what I have seen in many.

If possible please include links.

THANKS a heap for all assistance.

Any bootskins you find here at WC will be for XP or BootskinVista. Do not try running Bootskin Vista on Windows 7. It is NOT supported and may prevent you from booting up at all.
