Need help with address field text

Is there some trick to getting the Edit Explorer/IE Shell Parts-->Edit Vista/7 Explorer parts-->Search Field Background (extra settings) text to take effect in SKS7 for Windows 7?  Right now it's taking the colors from the Normal Toolbar buttons in the Edit Control section.  I have a dark toolbar in that section and my address field is light.  I've changed the text color in the Search Field Background-->Extra Settings, but it's just not functioning, and I think there might be a bug in SKS regarding this, because all the other Extra text parts in this section have a check box to enable the text color and font features.

I sure would appreciate any input on this.

wish I had an answer for you Karen, I looked back at a skin that had the color set to white and it wasn't, so it's not just you.

bump for reference

Thanks, Greg.  It's consoling to know I'm not the only one having the problem. :pout:

Same problem Karen and have spent the last week on my next skin working on nothing but colors. Would be a wonderful thing if there was more about what the colors all do. Will be waiting for this answer myself and anything else anyone may want to add about changing colors in the color section also.

Dave, I think when it comes to the colors, you just have to keep doing it, in order to figure it out, trial and error, about what works and what doesn't work.  I know it's really hard when you're just learning SKS, because not only are you trying to figure out where which color shows up, you're also trying to figure out what WHAT the parts are and where you can see them, so you could figure out what colors work and which ones don't.

I doubt you'll ever get a comprehensive "this color effects this, this and this" sort of list of what the color sections all affect (even when SKS DOES offer a hint, it's always vague..."this color may effect this, this and some sections of this" sort of answer), it would be REALLY awesome if a section that DIDN'T support something (i.e., text) didn't have a TAB for that something, so you weren't driving yourself up a tree looking for the best choice of skinning that part, when that part wasn't skinnable in the first place. I was hoping to hear a response from Tim (2of3), he comes up with a lot of obscure data and is willing to share that info.

Yes, he's IS the guy with the "little known" secrets.  Oh well...maybe this time the answer is, this part of SKS doesn't work.

It doesn`t work on Win7 (didn`t it work (kinda) in Vista?). The text color for the searchbox is defined by the window text color in the edit colors section.

The address field text does follow the toolbar button text colors.

Thank you, Tim.  Mystery solved.
