5) To steal tech via espionage, you have to use agents to get up to the advanced level of knowledge, and then leave them there even longer.  I've only been able to steal 1 tech this way.  It takes a long time.  Maybe it would be easier with a custom race with very high espionage bonuses, but I've never tried that.  I don't think that agents placed on an improvement on a planet count towards intelligence level.

You can also steal tech by invading an opponent's planet.

Thanks, also, I just wondered bout this question by the time my last game, I had 2 major races, an enemy race, and my own, and one minor race, the Snathi, and it took half a year into the game, then the Snathi knew all the tech that my enemy race knew. And I do leave them there for a long time, how long we talking bout, 20 years into a game, what?

I guess that everyone feels the same.  Internet forums don't display people shaking their heads when they can't find anything to say...

It's probable that the Snathi were trading tech rather than stealing it.  Anyway, it doesn't take 20 years, since the one game where I was able to steal a tech only lasted 8 years.  Unfortunately I don't remember how long it took, but I did leave 4 spies spying on the Drengin for many turns after I had reached advanced intelligence levels.

Why did it say the Snathi gotten all the tech the enemy race gotten, the Snathi didnt lose anything, just gotten a low income, I traded the Snathi all the tech I gotten except the diplomacy stuff, and the enemy race never got any tech from it, and the Snathi kinda hated the enemy race also. They stole tech some how, I needed the Snathi so I could get trade income. I could tell you whats the enemy race name is. I'll be here nearly everyday.
