Amusing coincidences with planet names

As you might have noticed, GalCiv 2 has a fair number of star names that are references to other works of science fiction. Sometimes, this has led to amusing coincidences. For instance, in my current game as the Altarians, I and my Torian allies are making an all out effort to stop the Drengin from destroying my main military starbase... at Hoth:

(sadly, the name is just a little off the bottom of the screenshot)

That Drengin "fleet" is actually 40-50 Super Dominator Corvettes and a half-dozen frigates (which are much more advanced than the corvettes) stacked together. I haven't actually played out the Battle of Hoth yet, but if it goes anything like its namesake, my allies and I may be in trouble.

This isn't the first time I've seen or heard of something like this. On the Milky Way map, I once had a major battle with the Yor at Wolf 359 (okay, so technically it was with a ship the Drengin gave them that went pirate when they died, but still), and, off-site, this guy (though in his TOA review, not the one I linked to) went to hilarious extremes in order to use a Terror Star to blow up the "Alderan" star system.

So, anything like this ever happen to anyone else?

Funnily enough, now that you mention it...

You can't tell from this picture but there's a lot of fighting going on near Hoth.  The military and mining starbases seem to act like a beacon for enemy ships.  Which is good because I wouldn't have the firepower to contain them if they just wandered around the starbases.

Aldera(a)n just has no luck.

Recently I played a TOA game that, for once, lasted long enough for me to research and build a Terror Star. Since I had never actually used one before, I decided to "test-fire" it on an uninhabited system in my space. That system?

You can't make this stuff up.

The really funny part is that this was, unlike in the link I posted in the first post, entirely coincidental. I built the Terror Star close to the Thalan border so it could move into position (relatively) quickly when my inevitable war with them began. It was just sheer luck that the closest system to where I built it that could be blown up with no consequences was Alderan.

Inevitable war? Why didn't you just make an Alliance with them?

I've made a custom race called the Asgard (with help from a few logos and pics found in the library here) with the homeworld of Valhalla.  In my latest game (had to restart because of a reinstall of windows) the ASGARD system was practically right next door to the Valhalla system!  Backstory could be some colonists have found their lost homeworld...
