I have complete control over my Windows updates and install them at my convenience and not MS'S. There were no Windows updates installed on the day the text appeared, Just the updates through Impulse.

I am not disagreeing with you. I am just saying I know it was not impulse for me. What I am doing now is installing updates on my other desktop. prior to the updates I had no text. I will let you know what happens once the updates are installed but it won't be tonight.

JC ... is yours an OEM version? They don't seem to be affected by this.

Ok I can now verify that it is the OEM versions that are not affected like Uvah has said. I have a Acer OEM and done windows updates, installed service pack 1 and updated Impulse. No updates gave me the text. I would still like to know what caused it on my other computer though.

maybe I'm just special and should stay out of this conversation but I have the win7 vista upgrade version and still no text, although I did reformat my HD recently.

Again let me reiterate, it has nothing to do with Stardock or any Stardock product.  My netbook is running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, and has never had a Stardock product installed on it, yet the text in the search area is there.  It is a Micorsoft update that caused this issue to occur, nothing else.

Personally though, I don't see what the big problem is, does not matter to me if the text is there or not. :P

So all that said, as far as getting rid of it, you can't unless you hack the operating system files I would imagine.

That's what I've been saying all along. Probably WB is picking it up from non-OEM versions of Win7. How? .... no clue.

It is not a big deal with me either but to state that Microsoft caused it when you do not know that for a fact is misleading. On my machine, the updates through Impulse triggered something to make the text appear. I did not do any Windows updates on or around the time it appeared on my machine. This is not an OEM version but it is an update from Vista to Win7 last year. We will most likely never know what caused it but in my case, I know for a fact that it was not a Windows update.:meow:

Frankief how is what Tom said misleading? He says it is a Microsoft update and you say it is a Stardock update. How is one anymore misleading then the other? Actually there has been more then Tom that has said it was a Microsoft update including myself but I can only base that on my own personal experience. I had no text, installed Microsoft updates and voila! Text appeared.

I agree it is not a big deal so our comments should reflect that as well.

The important thing here is....

How to 86 it?

I'd love to see SKS do that.

Wouldn't that be something.

I'd love to see SKS do that.

or at least give us font size and style control

Um....to quote Tom:

My netbook is running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, and has never had a Stardock product installed on it, yet the text in the search area is there.

THAT is pretty conclusive evidence if you ask me..........perhaps you don`t have 100% control over your MS updates Frankie. It is a possibility anyway.

Mine is an OEM version of Win7....

Mine is an OEM version of Win7....

What skins are affected? The Aero skins only or all of them. My OEM version shows only the Aero skins with the text and none of the WB's.

All skins and with WB deactivated.

Keep getting this while trying to reply using Opera.

I hate this switching back and forth.

Try again. Are there shared files between WB and Win7. Why it affects some skins on OEM versions but not all on some machines but does affect all on other machines with the OEM versions and does affect all non- OEM versions. This is getting ridiculous.

Has anyone from Stardock read this thread?

I dunno. Maybe ... maybe not.

Uvah, you must have another problem as I only use Opera and never have a problem.

Not one Mod has replied on this thread so it would appear if one did look at it they don't have a clue and choose to stay away from it.

@DaveBax. Didn't have until Opera was updated. Oops ... there goes that update thing again. Just started yesterday when Opera went to 11.0.1 I'm gonna roll it back and see if it still happens.

Okay. Did the rollback. Lets see if it worked. Found the problem. Opera has its own version of AdBlock. It was preventing me from commenting the same way it did on Firefox. Now to see if its the same on the update.

it's a mystery folks with no apparent consistent pattern to make troubleshooting easy.

Uvah, I think the "jumbled" thing has to do with posting in the forums when more than one person is posting to the same thread at about the same time. safe thing to do is to copy the post before posting.

Guess what. Since when do ads pop up on forums?

golly, a multi-tasking thread. Is your sub up to date Uvah.
