Aqua Style

Tutorials

Hello All

I would be so grateful if someone could help me find a tutorial to achieve the effects that JairoB made famous with his icons and famous Aqua fruit Walls. I have spent a week at tutorial sites, spent endless hours with CS4 etc trying to finalize a project.

I have tried every combo of inner glow, gradients, masks, strokes, color overlay, color dodge etc especially to try to achieve that vibrant inside glow in the art. Many of you here make beautiful icons and I mention Jairo because I was so impressed with his work.

I can't find him either or I would venture to ask him directly.(His website is blank)  Maybe its a trade secret or something but I'm no competition because I'm not a skinner. In fact I'm a middle aged nurse trying to achieve that effect for a medical illustration. Years ago I was on this site and had a full subscription and I remember all the helpful folks I met here.

If anyone can just direct me to a tutorial or book or video so I can learn the specific steps ( I can do spheres all day but that doesn't translate well to irregular shapes like a leaf or a neuron LOL) I would soooo appreciate it.

It looks like each shape is stroked. The gloss overlay is easy. The rest has me stumped.

I this is the wrong forum to ask this I apologize in advance.

I would insert an image but can't figure how to from my pc.

Thanks everyone

I went ahead a reproduced the image from this wallpaper:  quaOrange 2.0

Here's my version:

It's not perfect, but it's what I could do in a couple of hours.

If you PM your mail address, I could send you the .psd so that you could study the layers to see how I did it.

Please note: I am in no way trying to rip the work done by weboso, so I hope that by sending this to you I'm not crossing some line! All shapes and layer styles are 100% done by me to illustrate how to get the desired effect. If anyone thinks I'm in a gray zone here, then I will suggest that you contact weboso for help with your images.

The secure thing to do would be to pm your email address to 2of3.

Very nice work, Tim. Full accreditation has been given and thr reason for reproducing the image...don't think it matters much, though because tou put "Sample" across it enough to make it impossible to copy/use/distribute onward.

And very nice work, Tim. ;)

On an off note: I managed to pick up a nasty on my laptop and am looking at a total system restore. I have all my graphics and skins backed up, so I have lost only my proggys which I can easily redownload.

But any work on skinning has come to a halt until I am back up again.

Sorry to hear that dude. Hope you fried the nasty. Good luck.

Thank you.Followed your instruction. I DID tag this image as "NOT my work-samples of other artists"

These are the general effects I am trying to achieve-Widely replicated by many artists. 20f3 did send me his sample as a tutorial and I am working on that. Any other directions would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you all
