Game of Thrones

Elemental

Okay, so I was debating between watching HBO's new series "Boardwalk Empire" & playing a few rounds of Elemental. I figured first one then the other. I start watching "BE" and see a trailer that says "winter's coming" and then the title "Game of Thrones" flashes across the screen. Holy crap! I guess I've been out of the loop! I purchased a Feast for Crows when it came out but have held off reading it simply because Martin always leaves me wanting more but has slowed down considerably after FFC. I just wanted to read 2-3 installments in a row. I am thrilled that HBO is doing this series but it is an epic undertaking. Will they do it justice? Idk. I guess I am assuming the Elemental fans read Jordan & Martin as well. Anybody else have any thoughts?

Yup.  I think that is why the latest book has been pushed back.  He wrote the adaptation and screenplay for the HBO series. Each book will be featured as a season. HBO has the potential for doing this well.  Saw some interviews by GRRM and he was very happy and the cast looks amazing.

Sounds great. I thought HBO did a fantastic job with Rome, so if anybody is going to d it, it should HBO. I checked out the sight for GOT--it does look amazing.

what I want is someone to leak the pilot that was made which allowed for the network to give it the "Go"... doubt it'll happen as I'm sure there's a 100% cast turnover, but still... would like to see it.

PS who's the character chicky who you see with the very light colored hair? Is that Denerys?

Yeah, winter needs to hurry the hell up... I have been waiting a long time for this series and for the next book.  Though i think George R.R Martin said something about a major storyline issue slowing him down on the next book more than anything to do with the TV series.

Yeah, I think so--looks like she is with some Dothraki.

yeah, story =  eating and drinking and just enjoying himself waaay too much. I'm always hearing about how he's out there at different fantasy and book cons, what the hell for? You still promoting your last book that you finished.. um.. like 5 years ago.. Get your fat arse back to writing!  ;)

Said with love, of course.  I just don't want him to pull a Robert Jordan and die on us seeing as, unlike R. Jordan, he doesn't have pretty much the rest of the story mapped out in manuscripts... so someone would have to finish it with what they "think" is in his mind.  I can tell you, food, fighting and f*cking. Good luck trying to finish a book on that!  :)

The Rome people did a fantastic job, but HBO let us down by killing the series early. It was a very expensive show, though. They got the freakin' tableware right. Gods but that was amazing work, right down to casting all those Italian extras with their Roman noses...

With HBO planning to do one novel per season, Martin will need to speed up eventually or the younger actors will be aging too much between rounds of filming. I certainly wouldn't object to more prose ASAP. I dawdled as long as I could with it, but I just recently finished A Feast for Crows. Lit critics need to come up with some new term for 'cliffhanger on a 7-sided cliff.'

Yeah, I was devastated when I found that out. I discovered him later in his career so I had like 8 books I could blaze through. It was great. Did you happen to read the Thomas Covenant Chronicles? I just picked up "The Gathering Storm." I am gonna start at the beginning and work my way back through. Now I have to divide the time with Elemental 8C
