Sunday Morning has come and Gone, "Midday" is just about over? Update Please?

Frogboy, do you think we could get an update as to what is going on? I'm not sure what the point of getting us all excited for no reason would be, other then just to torture us. Is that what this is? BECAUSE I AM BEING TORTURED.

I dont even know what you guys are talking about, on the elemental email i got it said that "If you preorder you can download one day early, on the 23'rd!".

Which is tomorrow, monday. Why is everyone here talking about today, sunday?

Um, from this:

The wait's driving me crazy. Heck I even started listening to Lady Gaga and enjoying it, a clear sign of insanity.  I'll see you in court Stardock!  ;P

Patience people, patience. Don't anger the early release gods!

However, we might need to sacrifice a goat now...

Testers get the early early love.

Pre-orders are supposed to get them right after testers during mid-day which I guess has turned into "tonight"

Some of us just got up.

Time enough to sleep when your dead my dear Amphibean.. today you give birth to an army of wannabe sovereigns!

We patiently (for the most part) wait to take up the Mantle and spread our rule!

As long as it's your goat, whatever works.

It's 20:15 in western Europe now and the torture is just getting too much ...  ;P  But still hoping for a long night!

Boss will be back at work tomorrow after the summer holidays - he will probably meet at lest one colleague looking like this, :puke: , one eye closed and the other staring, mumbling something about "that volcano shall teach them" ...

You people need to calm down.

Remember, the release date is the 24th, so anything before that is a privilege.

not to be a complete jerk, but i think it stopped being a privilege when stores broke the street date. i pre-ordered so i could play it a day early, and now i find that if i had just gone to best buy yesterday i could have gotten it a whole weekend early. i think what the stores did by breaking the street date is pretty stupid, and im sympathetic to Stardock, but its still quite frustrating as a consumer.

Still morning out here where I'm at.  Hell, if you really want to get technical it isn't "officially" past noon in the US for another 3 1/2 hours.

Well good luck all, back on the road will check back in 3-4 hours to see if everyone is playing.

You'd have a point if we weren't explicitly told that the game was being released today for beta testers and preorders.

But since Brad apparently just woke up around 20-minutes ago, they may not get around to actually flipping the switch until this evening some time.

It's still mid-day where I'm at...and where Stardock is at.  Unless early afternoon has morphed into something else while I wasn't paying attention.

My Beta copy is taunting me.

Keeps saying there's an update - but there's not! Dang thing!

Ahh well its 20:32h around here now so...no playin for me till tomorrow after work :( Even if it actually should be available during the next 5 minutes I'd never be able to download it completely before havin to get some sleep.

Now working day will be hard...very hard....oh well. Getting back to GalCiv 2 for a few turns...

The stores breaking the street date doesn't affect you. The release date is the 24th. Anything else is either an error, a breach of contract or a privilege.

The release date was always the 24th.

I still have a point. Brad saying preorders and beta testers getting it early is the "privilege" part. Release date is 24th, that hasn't changed.

I'm not trying to be hostile. I know everyone is anxious, so am I. But all this outrage is a little overdramatic.

Guys,

Although I love Stardock, I have to remind you all that digital content distribution during launch day is almost *always* hit-or-miss, with an emphasis on "miss".

Demigod was a disaster at launch. So was World of Warcraft. So was nearly every digitally distributed game over the last 3 years. This includes major titles released on Steam (Settlers 7, anyone?). It doesn't really matter if the launch was done by a very excellent publisher; these things are complex, and things *always* go wrong. Murphy's law, of course.

They're trying to release it in stages, starting 4 hours ago. Something obviously went wrong, something minor, but something that will take some amount of time to fix.

Given that it is Sunday, on the eve of a major game launch, can you *really* blame them if it doesn't come out tomorrow? Frankly, I'd be happy if we actually manage to get the game downloaded by the 24th. Anything else is bonus. I would not be surprised if a significant fraction of pre-orders don't get to play until they actually receive a CD in the mail (5-10%). That'll all die down within a week or so of release.

Patience is a virtue. Patience on a major game digital release date? Doubly so.

Peace, y'all. The game is going to rock, and we weren't expecting it until the 24th, at the earliest. It sucks to wait, but them's the breaks.

Well, instead of doing it in stages they shoud do them all at once then. People who can download it on impulse have pre-ordered the game or have beta tested. Does a half day really matter between the 2 groups?

The "stages" is actually done for the benefit of the customers.

Think about it this way. There is one door out of a room, and thirty people in the room. If everyone tries to leave at the same time, it will be crowded and awkward. If they leave in groups, it will be a lot faster.

I think we all just would like an ETA, since the timeline they provided has come and gone. I'm not angry or frustrated in any way, just excited =)

Anyone who is getting upset needs to relax, like someone else said, it was a nice surprise when Brad said we may be getting it early, but if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen.

please for the love of god let it happen

i disagree. the stores do effect me. if i wanted to, i could go down to the store and buy the game right now. its an hour round trip, and i'd much rather give my money directly to stardock, but its an option. unless its a case where those people who bought a boxed copy off a storeshelf still cannot play because thier keys are still locked out, i think i have a right to be a little frustrated over this.

im not outraged, im not demanding that Stardock release the game right this minute, im just stating that i am frustrated, not with Stardock necessarily, more with the whole process in general. we were told yesterday that we'd be able to play today, maybe we will, maybe we won't, but since Frogboy said we would, it makes it even more frustrating as the day goes on.

i hope that stardock takes their time and gets it out when its ready, but at the same time, they said we'd get it today, so here i am, mashing the refresh button just like everyone else on these forums.
