How do I get my cheats to work?

All the examples on websites have the words "TotalGaming" in the shortcut title, but mine doesn't. When I try to add it, windows doesn't recognize the file. Just Adding "cheat" to the end of "GalCiv2.exe" doesn't work either. What do I do to get my cheats to work?

Don't add "totalgaming" to the shortcut title. Add "cheat" without the quotation marks. And make sure you use a shortcut that leads directly to the game's .exe, and not the quick-launch thingy with the manual and web site and etc. buttons.
