About the races

I'm interesting about the races in galciv and wondered if there is a site that tells about them.

In the databanks section of the site there is some good info including a bit of backstory by Brad.

Ok, but in the databanks section there is a picture of an thalan with an subtitle "Civilizations". When you click on that link you get to a page where it tells about the races of galciv. It does not tell about all the races one of them is the "Krynns" and the "Koraths".

The Krynn are not a single species but a number of sentient species that developed on their homeworld nearly simultaneously.  Unlike most species that have known civil strife, bloodshed, and chaos, the Krynn rallied around a singular vision for the Universe.  Being actually a "culture" more so than any single species, it allows any race to be a member of the Krynn (which explains their high espionage skills, the Drengin next to you can actually follow the Krynniac principles).  Another core belief of the Krynn is that all living creatures can/have/or will be a Krynn, and so it is important to save everyone's "soul".

The Krynn are in some ways fundamentalists, and also, though having some strong diplomatic abilities, take a different approach than Humans. In that Humans look to make allies, the Krynn use their abilities to bring more people into the Krynn.

The Korath Clan was a part of the Drengin civilization.  Following the First Galactic War where the Drengin Empire defeated the Terran Alliance and its allies, the Drengin and Korath disagreed on what to do with the conquered peoples they now had in their control.  The Drengin wanted to continue in the slavery and subjugation to increase the Drengin Empire's overall power.  The Korath wanted nothing more than the total annihilation of all non-Drengin life.    The Drengin, knowing that having no underlings would only lead to a weak empire rife with internal struggles, fought against the Korath.   Unbeknown to the Drengin, the Korath were actually being used and empowered by the evil Dread Lords.

And now you know a bit more of the story :)

I thank you Silverbeacher for sharing your knowledgy about the krynn and the korath. It sounds interesting about the krynn, are they some kind of a sect?

Sect is a bit limiting; makes them seem "small".  Take the order and strong belief system of a sect, and put it to a much grander scale like in real world analogy the Catholic Church.  and even then, that doesn't really do the Krynn justice.   They are a numerous and varied people that have an unwavering singular belief.

I wonder if there is a book that tells deeply about each of the civilizations history. I really would like to know more about the Arceans or the Iconians.

There is no book, but I suspect there's still a massive amount of unpublished backstory. Maybe if the Elemental novel does well we'll see a book for GalCiv III if/when it comes out.

I just played as "The Altarian Resistence" and found a good information about the history of Galactic Civilizations from there unique technologies. One of them is - "The Precursor History". And that gave me the perspective of the games backstory.
