It's been moved to the workshop (i.e. modding area).   We don't know precisely how it is going to work, but rest assured, you will all be able to fall to my mighty frogs of doom.   :frogboy: ;P

Many thanks. I'll be sure to prepare some interesting welcoming devices for your frogs. On a completely unrelated side note, do dogs eat frog meat? O:)

Seriously, though, thanks. That was my big worry.

demonzr, yes dogs eat everything, I have even seen dogs eat other animal manure, but if the thing that they ate was poisonous then they die.

Quoting Xea, reply 122How do you make children after married? You preorder them from Paris (France, not Texas). Must pay the stork shipping cost once they are ready though (which can be expensive if you play in a huge map).

Ermm you need a little bit of education, let me help.

The children do not come from storks flying babies tied to thier beaks.

Children come from hell, a spellbound albatross is tasked with delivering the hellspawn to where ever more helltroops are needed. After it has done its work it attaches its self to the neck of the new parents to make thier lives suffer that little bit more.

Note: Don't have children on the sea or you will be listening to the acient mariner all day long.

"Last game I started I ended up on an island, had to use raise land spell to get to ... another deserted island"

You can construct harbors near the sea, then build ships and transport large #'s of folks that way too.

Actully you can only do this on beaches. And what really sucks is that when you do transport troops you can only unload them on a beach. The problem with this is that so far on every map I have played beaches are few and far between.  I wish we could off load units travelling on ship on normal land as well.

And while I'm on the subject are there any other navel units other than Transports?

The # of Beaches seems to have been updated on the maps I have been playing. Of course I have also stopped making harbors and Yes, there are other ship types, at least one other, an Escort or Galley but with nothing to fight on the Sea, they are just micromanagement with out a real purpose.

It was mentioned that we hope the lower land on an edge tile would create a BEACH tile in the next build. That would solve alot of the beach issues you brought up. Load up an army and a SoV and land where ever you want to. LOL

Has anyone tried raising or lowering the land to make a beach? I haven't tried it yet my-self but it might be possible. I'll try today when the new beta hits if I think about it.

It might be cool to be able to send your young children to another country for a time. Might be cool if you fall in relation to another country they then use your child as a bargaining chip. In medieval times kings would often keep children of other lords under their "protective" care to ensure the loyalty of other lords and such. The same could happen with other kings sons and daughters as well.
This is a good idea.  George RR Martin writes about this in the Game of Thrones - where children of a conquered noble are sent to "stay" with the victor - to ensure the conquered's loyalty.  Or,alternatively, where the children of the conqueror are sent to stay with the vanquished noble - perhaps as a sign of trust in the defeated noble.  This could be a fairly interesting game  mechanic.  It would be interesting to use offspring as trip wires; like troops stationed in foreign countries as a deterrent to common enemies to show allies' resolve to act together.

Yep, using children as bargaining chips, adoptive wards, loyalty ensurers ... or even to raise the son of a MORTAL lord (of a Minor Nation) as your squire/apprentice/Lancer in order to win the trust/allegiance of that Minor nation, or even to gain control over its resources once the son takes the throne.

Basically, even out-side of marriage there are plenty of ways to use children in diplomacy. Heck, maybe if you have another lord's child in your court it would increase the chances of that child marrying/ seeking marriage with a child of your own. (at least a child of your own that is also in your court)

I am reminded of Attila the Hun growing up in a Roman City, with Roman teachers and luxuries ... being close friends with a Roman child that grew up to be a Roman general. And the eventual battle vs Attila and his childhood friend many years later.

IIRC both children spent some of their childhood in the Realm of the Huns and some of their childhood in the Palaces of Rome.
