Introduction

The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the SoaSE Universe.

It keeps the original races, the TEC, Advent and Vasari who are still to be found building and battling as usual.

All of the new races are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses.

Any news (timeline) about the update to the new patch?

Next week or two ...

Busy with other projects.

Still have not finished the Pirate Factions and undecided as to whether to release a 'demo' version of the pirates in the R7 Rebellion release.

Still, it's pretty good that Ironclad/Stardock are updating still. At least it means that there's ample development going on.

Eh.. far moreso Stardock than IC. IC has been too busy making their upcoming failed endeavor (it will in a MOBA market flooded with LOL and DOTA) Sins of a Dark Age. Rebellion has been primarily a Stardock Entertainment game then, and will be in the future. I wish they'd just buy up the IP or studio.

Go, go Stardock!

I want both companies to succeed (in whatever form is best), but Ironclad should have learned from Stardock's mistake with Demigod, and they were even early to the MOBA genre with only DOTA being the only thing about.  I believe there is a reason why Stardock isn't publishing Sins of a Dark Age...

Based on the history of MMOs, I fear that this may very well be the case. WoW was the dominant MMO (and although in slow decline, still is), but at the same time, every developer tried to emulate the success of WoW. It turned out that there was a demand for WoW, and to a lesser extent EvE (which was a totally different theme), but not so much other MMOs.

The domination of LoL, and DoTA seems to follow this trend.

Contrary to Ironclad's claims, I very much feel that strategy games have a future and agree with Brad.

What will happen to the fate of some of the custom stars that I think you added now that they overlap with the new DLC? I think that there seem to be some crashes that are caused by conflicts with the new Stellar DLC.

Still no update?
He just did an update not even a month ago.  He usually ties in his normal updates when new content is available for the mod.

Quick question. Is maelstrom compatible with other mods? And if so, what are some examples? Thanks!

Hello guys!

I am having trouble with unpacking this mod for rebellion. Can you guys tell me why is that i have downloaded this mod from modb from strategyinformer  from gamefront and here from this very forum and all ends up throwing the same error msg: "Error: central directory not found." and the "error in packed file zip", i have tried winzip, and 7zip so far no result. I have no more idea on how to solw this problem. Just in case a downloaded the Armada 3 mod as well, to see if that can or can not be unzipped, and it worked as it should be.

Pls guys help, i really want to play this mod :P!!!!

Jdownloader, which is independent, or DownThemAll, a Firefox addon, are ideal download managers and I have never once had a corrupt file from a reputable source with them.

Hello, I'd like to start with saying that you've got a great mod.

However, I don't know if my download/extraction or anything got weirdly corrupted, but I can select pirates as a playable faction. The game crashes whenever I do so, though. Is it a bug or a future? :)

But seriously, you did an awesome work with this mod. It feels like the natural expansion to Sins.

Well done!

I have a small question, i started playing as the replicators, but their starting ships didnt regen their antimatter and thus couldnt ever use any of their abilities. I’m just wondering is this a feature to make the replicators less overpowered or is my game just glitching out?

Feeling Dumb, I have unzipped this mod in the correct place, and when i activate it it all loads. Yet I cannot select anything other than Tec Advent and Vasari to play as. what am i doing wrong?

Question, Sins Rebellion just got updated to 1.82 - is the R7 version compatible?

The developers have added a Random resource boom which will crash the mod ...  at least some temporary stability can be had by disabling random events.

Currently working on upgrade for 1.82 patch

Ok, thanks for the update.

Two Things:

Is the thing with the random events crashing the mod still a thing? (as mentioned above)

Is the AI able to play decent with this mod or is it going to fuck up custom races and such?

Thanks in advance.

Not now as R8 has been released for patch 1.82 of Rebellion

AI works fine ... so I think ... and so I have been told
