This thread has been created for the purpose of tracking results in the April/May 2010 2v2 Demigod Community Tournament. 

Current status:  WINNER! - King_Of_Thorns + Zen_God

Round 1a began at 5PM on 4/21/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 4/30/2010. 

Round 1b began at Midnight on 5/1/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/7/2010.

Round 2 began at Midnight on 5/8/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/23/2010.

Round 3 (SEMIFINALS) began at Midnight on 5/24/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 5/30/2010.

Round 4 (FINALS) began Midnight on 5/31/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 6/5/2010

Players responsible for hosting and scheduling their own matches.  Then, the winning team must provide a replay and a link to the pantheon stats here for tracking purposes, for every game played.  Please feel free to use this thread get your matches scheduled.

There will be a need to disqualify teams that aren't making the required effort to get their games in without penalizing another team that's doing whatever they can to get a match scheduled.  It's probably best if teams that are trying to organize matches go on record in the forums.  For instance, if I was playing against say AtMa and Ba, I'd post something like the following in this thread:

Atma + Ba:  trouser and pacov are generally available M-F from 5pm EST - 1AM EST.  Please let us know if some time in that slot would work for you or recommend a time slot that works.  I'll PM you in a few days if I haven't heard from you or we can discuss this on lagwars vent. 

Something like that.  If it comes down to disqualifying teams because they didn't get their match in, the more info and tracking you have indicating that you did your best to get the match scheduled the better.

Here is the FINAL bracket  - UPDATED 6/5/2010

Tournament Rules:

  • You may only select characters as indicated in the grid below:

  • Each match in the tournament will be the best 2 out of 3 games
  • All matches will be played on cataract with default settings (the only exceptions being AI HP on Very High and AI Gold/XP on low)
  • After teams are formed, they will be randomly placed into a bracket to determine who will fight who.  Everything will be random initially in round 1.  In the following rounds, the winners from one game will play the winners from another based on location in the bracket starting from the top on to the bottom.
  • Each team will play 1 round on light side, then 1 round on dark side.  If there is a 3rd round, the team that had the fastest win in game 1 or 2 gets to pick the side they want to be on (keep in mind the following rule).  
  • The team that is on the dark side must pick their characters and ready up first.  Then the light gets to pick and the dark side does not have a chance to adjust their characters. 
  • To track your wins, you must do the following - post the replay at gamereplays.org.  If you have issues with gamereplays, upload the file to rapid share and provide us with a link.  Also, provide a link to the match in the pantheon and let me know if its a win or loss.  The winning team should do this for each and every match.
  • UberFix 1.02 must be used (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/374315).  UberFix is a mod that fixes many of the bugs in Demigod.  Check the modding forum for everything that is fixed by UberFix 1.02. 

How will we handle crashes:

If there is a game crash, the players involved in that match should see if they can come to a consensus on the probable outcome of the match.  If there is no clear winner, the 2 teams should replay the match using the exact same demigods and sides (light/dark).  If there was a clear winner at that point in the game, then that team should be awarded the win.  If the 2 teams disagree on the outcome, a third party will review the replay of the match and render a decision.  Be aware that the 3rd party must agree that a specific team was going to win or the results will be thrown out and the match redone.

How we will handle invalid game states:

The lastgamereplay file is still created in the event of an invalid game state, so it is still possible to review the results of a match.  In the event of an invalid game state, players should attempt to resolve the issue exactly the same way as game crashes.  If you believe foul play occurred, submit the replay along with any screen shots, etc, as evidence and we will review.  If there is a CLEAR consensus that a team is willingly triggering invalid game states, that team should be disqualified after a thorough review of the facts. Please be reasonable, though.  We all know that Demigod has its bugs and its still pretty easy to encounter an invalid game state even if no one has intentionally triggered it.  If your game does crash, it might be advisable to take a screen shot of the crash as proof.  Be aware that we know invalid game states can occur without any sort of foul play, so please be mindful when submitting requests for review. 

Prizes:

Outside of prestige in our small community, there is also a cash prize thanks to community contributions.  The total (and probably final) amount paid for this tournament is $200.  If you would like to contribute to the pot, please pm me and I'll get you the needed info to send me a payment.  If individuals do not come through on their pledges, I will not be personally covering the difference.  My goal is to collect the pledged amount before the tournament starts and I will be providing updates as I receive the pledged money.

Nope.  methinks there has been enough nonsense in that section of the bracket (a disqualification, a teammate on the team that didn't get disqualified conceding or quiting, one teammate change to add you - and now you want to drop the only person from the original bracket in favor of someone else).  I'm not in favor of any further changes. 

I also think we have learned that randomly assigned teams is a pretty big mixed bag... atma didn't want to team with synn... achillies wanted to dump hax...and now jona wants to dump taco.  Next tourney plz.

Jona, taco is a very nice guy and I do not appreciate him being left out. Like you said, his TB is good so you can use that to your advantage somehow.

hey maxsteele - odds are I can't make it on Wed now.  Its cinco-de mayo and I apparently have plans, I'm told.  I'm all set for thursday though... anyway, there's still a chance I could make wed after 10pm est, but don't wait around or put yourselves out.  Does thursday work okay?  I can be free from about 6:30pm-11:30PM. 

 

Thursday is not good for Sebacoyl he has a test friday morning so he is putting off the DG in favor of studying. After 10pm tonight is fine with me I will stay on vent till midnight if you want to find me and do it. Other wise any time after 3pm EST on friday is fine.

Its not that his TB is not good, its just overall teamwork me and soccer have.  Its not gonna be much of a game against orcun and shane who have played hundreds of games together but watever.

Correct, and you have only been gone 4 months, Orcun was gone most of that time too.  Then clan just started in February.

Hey - so some good news.  Brandon came through on his pledge and I now have the money in my paypal account.  There was a small fee when he sent the transaction to me... anyway, the bottom line is that the total prize money that I have in my account, ready to distribute is $197.75.  So, each player will receive roughly $100 per person.  Any fees that are applied when I pay out will come out of that total amount.  Anyway, cool stuff that Brandon came through.  He indicated that he did not appreciate some of the flames and that he's still willing to contribute again in our next tournament.  So, here we go:

THANKS GO OUT TO BRANDON_VARN FOR HIS GENEROUS CONTRIBUTION OF $100 (pledged and paid) TO THE 2V2 DEMIGOD TOURNAMENT. 

And on a side note, it looks like pacov + trousersnake v maxsteel32 + sebacoyl will take place tonight.  We'll have some replays up in a couple hours.  Thanks for being flexible to get our match in, guys.

I'll check the thread tomorrow morning to see if you guys wanna play anytime tomorrow. On top of all, i didn't actually discuss Shane's schedule. So i don't know if he is free or not. I live in GMT -5 time zone.

Game 2 - pacov + trousersnake win - this was our ain't going to lose the tourney here game.  If you want to see trouser on fire, this is a good place to watch his skills with reg.  I take credit for our laning strategy.  we were oak/reg v darkvial rook/da.  My goal was to throw them off balance as much as possible and stack pent/snipe at every turn.  I had trouser lane with rook whereever he went so that I could focus damage on da.  This meant that even if he was working on HP, he would generally float to the xp flag.  This enabled me to spike da's with pents, and trouser to spam snipes + hw over and over.  Alot of my goals was to just mess with their timing... Anyway, this game is not much of a highlight reel for me, but certainly a great one for trouser.

I have the replays for games 1 and 3 - I asked max or seb to post the results for game 2 on game replays.  Anyway, apparently game replays is down atm, so I'll upload them asap... but it probably won't be until after work tomorrow.

^Good work pacov, although HW reg is not really the best build imo, it's a nice laidback thing to do so I do it all the time.

i check the forum a couple of times through out the day so just leave a time that works best for you. I am usually on playing the game during the morning hours (pst) but i can game on anytime you guys decide on.
