Battle for Wesnoth

I have been looking for a turn based strategy game with a classic fantasy theme for awhile (preferably a hex-grid system like the old panzer general series), and am looking forward to Elemental when they finally finish it (hopefully it turns out to be a home-run). I was lookimg through the Civ forums the other day and discovered a link to a game called Battle for Wesnoth. It's pretty much exactly the kind of thing I was looking for and it's FREE. It has ability to play multi-player and has certain features that I wish all TBS games had like being able to play hot seat multiplayer while being in control of all sides yourself hehe, and it even has a map editor. While not as complicated as my IDEAL TBS game would be, so far I have found it to be great fun and has kicked my GCII playing to the backburner. I was just wondering if anyone else has played this game and if not I wanted to let everyone know about it if they're looking for a fun TBS fantasy themed type game. And once again, it's free :)

Here's the link:   http://www.wesnoth.org/

Have a good one all :)

Yep, it's fun. You can spend forever doing the single player campaigns. There are a bazillion and a half of them.

This is definitely a great game.  I'd recommend it for anyone who enjoy TBGs

The competitive multiplayer of this game is really good. Version 1.10 is going to be released in a couple of weeks too
