Decided to tell everyone about this game I came across.

Star Ruler is a mixture between the RTS and 4X genres. Our goal is to bring an expansive galaxy to life, and provide many ways to experience the world - whether your goal is to conquer, extinguish, or make peace with all life - so there will always be something new to experience.

Features:

    Enormous, detailed, galaxies
    Up to 1000 systems each with their own stars, planets, moons, and asteroid belts.
    Six distinct paths to victory
    Combat, Espionage, Diplomatic, Research, Economic, and Exploration paths give players a choice of gameplay styles.
    Design your own ships
    You get to choose every component that goes into a ship, and choose what appearance it uses, either from the built-in shipsets, or custom ones from the community.
    Mod the game in every way:
    • Create skins for the UI, or scripts to dictate its behavior.
    • Add new elements to the gameplay, either new items to place on ships, or entirely new mechanics not in the original game.
    • Share your creations with others through the in-game content manager.
    Take your battles online
    Massive fights in a massive universe; support for up to eight players. Save the whole game when dawn breaks and boot it back up at dusk; it isn't over until you say it is!
    That's no moon
    With an entire galaxy's worth of resources at your fingertips, why let it go to waste on simple starfighters? Build massive Dyson Spheres, Black Hole manipulators, and Star Cannons to crush your foe's dreams of conquest. Strap huge engines, shields, and guns on to your worlds and transform your homeworlds from a resource to be held or taken into a deadly adversary.
    Truly freeform camera
    Players have an option of a standard camera, as if attached to a pole, or a completely free camera - see the game from any direction you require with ease.
    And much more for you to discover!

Ok, I didn't think so, just a thought I had about possibly having a scenario based on the start of the colonization of the solar system, but I suppose it could be pushed out to late colonization and early conflicts pre-ftl.

Looks like Star Ruler is now available on D2D.

 

I'm still holding out for Impulse if that happens. If not I'll give GG or D2D a try if I have to. Gotta support ambitious indie devs, especially when they deliver stuff like galaxy sized star ships!

Are there actually galaxy sized ships? Somehow that seems ... a bit hard to pull off. Props for giving it a go though.

My personal preference would be a general max the size of a solar system. I mean think about it ... Thats HUGE!!!! Galaxy size just seems to big.

Congratz are in order for getting this kind of game done and finished in the first place, a secondary kudos goes out to both stardock and you guys for bringing this to impulse, I have steam but much prefer impulse and will be my choice of electronic purchases for the foreseeable future  .

 

While I have already made the decision to purchase this game when it becomes available, I am more than prepared to go through the initial mass bug squashing that inevitably comes with such a complex game release, I just hope you all show the same enthusiasm after the game launch and keep the patches coming in a timely fashion along with what seems to be a great communication from the developers.

 So uh I checked out this stream and was greeted with pictures of naked chicks, and rosie o'donnel. my 5 year old nephew was right next to me.  Shame, I'm not going to purchase this anymore because of that.

Yikes.  Sorry to hear that, Sushikawa.  That was a recorded livecast from the 19th that Artem did; I'll remove it from our list.

Artem does tend to run a bit more of a mature stream.  We've had the stream's rating at R for some time now but I forgot that Livestream doesn't do an age-verification, etc. when you're direct-linking.

You know for sometime I have seen this post and just not looked at it... I feel very stupid for not doing so earlier... Heck I would of like to beta tested but hey, I missed the boat on that. I mean ships the size of a galaxy... whole ef...  :D (suck it Star Wars). I am ordering this on Impulse ASAP! I just missed the livestream ie, "ok where done for tonight". lol just my luck. :rofl:
