Making progress but a lot of work yet to do. This is my first blind so comments are welcome!
Start button is animated, but screenshot does not show it.
It all looks very polished...except for the antialiasing on the window frame tops and start menu tops(corners) 
I'll hit those corners when I go through and fine tune areas that need it. Shouldn't be to much of a hassle..( I hope, unlike some of the other parts!) I've done so much of create, save, apply, edit, save, apply, edit, save, apply and a few changes to areas that I originaly had done that I am suprised I am as far along as I am!
...... and then the classic response from the impatient 
?!DONE YET!?

Not yet! Hopefully soon so I can start another one.
Dude, let me know a few days before you're done please. I Haven't even gotten started yet, also, any major changes, I'll need new graphics.

It's better to get a finish and properly done skin, than a hurried and half-assed one. 
I'm thinkin' elvee needs a new avatar...I have one in mind, too.

No hurrying here, still have quite a bit to do yet. No sense in screwing up now with all the time I have put into thus far. 
Just keep looking forward Elvee and some day it will be done!

what would i want? actually, release it with any image you want. i'll edit my copy of it to remove the alienhead and not insert another image/logo. i've always thought that alienhead image was rather childish, to be honest. anyway, other than the alienhaed, the skin is superb. you're doing a magnificent job for your first wb skin. i'm sure a vast majority of the folks will love the alienhead.
Is there a secret I don't know about or a special dance I have to do to get the text in the placeslist of the start menu to change color when mousedover or can this not be done? Normal text I want white, mouseover text I want black!

he has a point...this dosnt specifically look like an alien skin...the head kinda types it.
But,you can easily include a substyle that includes it (or leaves it off)

I agree, it doesn't look very alienish, I just threw those in there for personal choice ( mainly the start button, didn't want the same old windows flag or the word "START" and haven't put a lot of thought on what is going there yet so then I added it to the infopane)...
Disclaimer:
The Original will not include it, but a substyle will. The screenshots only depict the way it is set to how I have it on my pc.
As the saying goes:

Anyway, back to plugging away at this thing so I can get this done before next year!! 
So quit trying and concentrate on pleasing me.... .
If it really works as good as the screenshots looks, this will be the best 1st timer skin we ever had here on WC IMHO.
First blind and first time skinner is not necessarily the same thing though. I seriously doubt this is a first ever skinning attempt, if it is, I'm in awe.
I'm guessing that original screenshot is a Photoshop mock up? You can't centre the text like that in the start menu.........
and you can't change the background only behind the search button on the search box
