Decent Community

Is it a crime to be a newbie?

I seem to suck at this game, though I love it. No problem for me, I'll just keep training and play newbie games for now. But after about 10 online games so far I was really bullied this morning.

Players were NOT nice at all. Humiliating me. Hello? The game was called "Noob Game"!

This was really taking me down.

Now I wonder about the community. I read that it is a very decent crowd in the games. But this was the contrary. Does this happen often? Doesn't  everybody start as a newbie. You have to learn the ropes at some point, right?

If this becomes a regular thing I don't want to play anymore.

Some people like to feel better by making fun of others, as per sadism.

Other people are just trying to be whimsical and don't actually mean to hurt other people.

To be honest I think you need a bit of a thick skin in this community. some ppl really can be mean against newbies. Doing this in a noob game is just pathetic though.

Well honestly, if you're really really noob it pisses a lot of people off why?

Because in a 3v3 game a side with a noob is basically WORSE than having the AI. It's like play 2v3 and that's extremely a put-down.

Sometimes people will just give up if they find out they have a total noob (as opposed to semi-noob) on their team because the sharks in this game will eat them alive.

I think the best way for a new player to minimize their noob-ness is play HYPER AGGRESSIVELY. Build 20-30 scouts ASAP and rush the guy next to you with your cap. Don't even think about civic or "sim city" until you taken out or severely hurt the enemy guy next to you.

So many noobs just build up economy b/c of "oh I like to play defensively... by spamming turrets ugh" and then get raped as soon a decent fleet shows up crying for help. At this point I would say "wow what a f*cking noob asshole that basically lost the entire game for us"

Basically go 100% fleet, go 100% rush and don't fucking spam turrets and hanger defenses or non-Vasari Starbases cuz they are useless.

Bascially you might think you're being persecuted but your own incompetence is persecuting all your fellow teammates in bascially wasting their time in a game they have no chance. You can only hope there is someone equally crappy on their team or hope they are all medicore and you have at least 1 incredible player on your team that effectively counts as 2 players.

If anyone went 100% offensive 100% rush 100% fleet but lost because they were a noob, I would still appreciate his effort and initiative. I'd rather have this guy on my team despite being a noob.

However if I have a 100% defense 100% economy (which they don't even know how to maximize anyway) noob I REALLY really hate this. Not only is he a coward but basically he is forcing everyone else to pull his weight in doing something he doesn't know how to do. (This is to FEED the other players who are attacking, a noob just keeps all his income to himself)

It's a good albiet small community, but there are those on both ends of the skill spectrum that can be frustrating. /ignore "player name here" is really useful for tuning them out B)

Frankly, I dont like carrying players, and many other players feel the same. If i am playing a game with a newbie on my side, if he listens to his team mates on what to do, then the game is  a 4.5 vs 5, however, if he dont, it is 3.5 vs 5, i could have said 4v5, but it aint, noobs let there team mates does, and think they can still win. It dont wokr that well, you can sit at ur homeworld and build defense, but whens its 5v1, its aint easy.

Assuming this is SoSE...

Lol Dorian. He did say it was listed as "Noob Game". I think the general expectation there was he would be fine to enter. However, my advice to really new players who want to do PvP is to host a game with AI. This would tend to keep players like those commented above out of the game. You can simply add an AI to each team but still get the PvP feel.

Now to your and blackhawk's points. I can't really disagree to much. Unfortunately I was one of those players who was not really an asset early on like I guess most people new to Sins MP. However, I can attest to now getting frustrated with new players that simply won't listen. It's one thing to join a game you are outmatched in. It's another to completely disregard the advice or flat out instructions during the battle. If you have a good team, their will be a field commander of sorts. Do what they say. If you still lose they will atleast have a higher opinion of you than the guy that acts like an obnoxious jerk.

Also, please learn to take out an unfair AI. Use the close encounters, point blank or Celanus Core maps. It's really frustrating having a newb next to a player that drops for whatever reason and they can't take out the AI next to them.

Reminds me a few months ago when I played in a WarCraft 3 Frozen Throne custom game....You got heroes that lvl up against waves of stuff and after a while I destroyed a turret that released a big monster....they asked what I was doing and when I said I hadn't gotten that far to as destroying that tower I gotted comments like: "LOL NOOB", "Leave plz" <--- You f-tards!!

If I could only track their IPs and such so I could mess with them.....God I want to hurt people on the internetz >:(
