I once worked with a former news reporter who had to do a report on a young kid who just got sent to jail for the rest of hs life. The kid was 18 and had murdered someone. Its the SOGE mod. You cant miss it. PLAY IT! It is that good. I like how Eville half scaled everything, and doubled the grav well sizes. Wish it had the effects of reqium but hey it works and works very well.

Stress, I'm downloading SOGE now.  But not having really tried it yet, what's the difference between SOGE and Requium, the other big Star Wars mod?  I've played requium and I like it, but I'm intrigues with SOGE having a couple other new races.

Whatever, I'm off to play with this a while

Oh, and thanks again, I know you're working your ass off trying to get this mod finished.

SOGE is bigger. WAY bigger. In Requiem the star destroyers are capships, in SOGE their just cruisers. It also has 4 factions, Old Republic, Empire, Rebelion, CIS.

I have to disagree strongly here... the little gravity wells, in my opinion, are for beginners who don't know how to set up a real, working, planetary defence grid.  Little gravity wells you can cram with a ton of defensive turrets and not really pay attention where they go, and you're ships will always be right there when someone jumps into your sysytem...

BORING!!!

Realistically it should take 10's of minutes... hell, possibly hours for a ship to cross the gravity well of a gas giant, and it should be HARD to defend a planet that big.  You have to actually think and plan on where to place your logistic and tactical structures...  not just scatter them around all hodge podge...

In fact Stress, I hope you do modivfy the gravity wells to make them more realistic.  If not, I'm gonna re-modify my copy of the mod after it's finished anyway. 

I like a game that makes you think!!!  Not a pushover easy "god-mode" game... again... BORING!!!!!!

Oh, and I'm loving SOGE!!!!  I about fell out of my chair when 3 CIS cap ships jumped into my system lookin just like the big ring stations surrounding Nabu in the 1st movie... WOW!!!! 

This is a well made mod!!!  I just hope they add space stations soon.  That'll put it right over the top!!!

Realistic? Yeah impulse took them HOURS to get across Star Systems lol...and I know that's in the ST Universe... but I assume star wars would have an equal...

 And as far as gameplay it has nothing to do with SKILL or Defenses... It has to do with how annoying it is just to explore and colonize.... Hell your scouts can't even pop in and out fast enough to be effective.... it takes no more or less skill it just takes different tactics which I am fine with... The spending 15 mins to make 5 jumps with the game on speed 8 I am not cool with... 

I would be ok with big wells if ships could get across them faster.... Also why do asteriod have GAINT wells? And the wells are even bigger then the STARS!!!!

I hate being the herald of bad news....

However i must face the truth. Depite how dissapointing it may be.. My time for this mod is pretty much at an end. At least temporarily. My Real Life needs must come first, and i have many issues i must deal with. It leaves very little time for games or modding. I will turn over everything i have completed so far to Jaylorpcs. He cant model, but he can script, and finish up what we have done so far... The mod is not dead, but until i get my real life problems squared away i must take a leave of absense from it.

Dont worry. I'll be back. I put too much of my time into this just to give it up. Until then Jaylorpcs will continue to the best of his ability. If anyone wishes to help him then contact him. I hate doing this, but it must be done. You guys have been great. Ill see you all soon.

Totally understandable, Stress.  I've been working on an alternate version of the mod that's set right at the turn of the 25th century and have found myself feeling burned out a bit, too.  With that said, I also understand how difficult it is to work on a complete conversion mod by yourself, so I'mm more than willing to help out Jtaylorpcs with anything.

OK, maybe I was a bit harsh...  but first, what speed are your ships set to before you begin the game?  Seems like even with a big well they're moving kinda slow.

I totally agree with the asteroids.  Unless it's super dense or just huge it shouldn't have a big well.

As for the rest, I personally like the big wells so you have room to maneuver and such, and again, I think its eems more realistic.  But then again, I don't have a star-ship, so I don't know what realistic really is.

Why not just speed your ships up?  It's easy enough to do, just change the entity files and make your ships faster.  I do it all the time to whatever Mod I'm currently playing...
