Hello Distant Stars players!!!

We are pleased to start promoting a community around the mod we love to create and you love to play!

This topic is to help promote online play. No matter what you play, PvP, PvAI or PvPvAI! We will be having regular game times for everyone to gather and join up playing Distant Star!

The meeting place for setting up any Distant Stars game is currently Channel 'Distant Stars' on ICO. Once your there feel free to set up games among each other! Another thing we would like to promote is using Distant Stars in your game name. For example here are some game names: Distant Stars 1, Distant Stars 2, etc etc. You are all smart people. :P

A Quick Rundown:

Teamspeak:

We have recently started using Teamspeak to exapand the fun we can have. We encourage you to drop in and socialize with us! Any questions about the status of the channel can be directed to -Ue_Carbon.

Also we would like to get a list of ICO players names so we can all add each others as friends, to set up games beyond the set game time listed above.

Feel free to post up game time beyond the current set times, and letting us know your ICO name so we can add you to the list!!! We will hopefully see some of you ingame!!!

 Warning:

Be sure to turn your graphics settings down to lowest and turn off all of the special effects like bloom and skyboxes...  You're dealing with net traffic and other people's computers so to avoid unnecessary desyncs or disconnects, do your part and turn everything down.

We also suggest you Trim your Empire Tree to reduce mid-end game lag. Play with only the minimum ammount in your Empire Tree as you need!

Is the TS server working properly bc I can't seem to connect to by server address. I can't find a place to put the port number anyways.

When you start up TeamSpeak, press Control+S, that will bring up your connection window.  Just put 69.61.15.106:4293 in the address box, your name in the nickname box, and there's no password so leave that one blank.  Then hit connect and you should be good.

And people are on randomly even when there isn't a game going just to talk about modding in general or other stuff (I've streamed music over TS for several days before), so its not just a DS channel or a game channel, though should it be required, those channels could be set up.

you can use text chat, but if you want to make the most of it, you should get a mic.

If you have a webcam or are using a laptop, it usually has a mic built in, but you'll want to use headphones to avoid feedback and echoing.

Your best bet is just jump on TS on the weekends...usually someone will play Sins during the weekend evening. :)

What's the new TS address?

 

I reconnected to steam, it tried to update, now I can't play any of my games because 'cannot connect to steam server' ... tried to log onto the TS to discuss this but the server is no longer up.

 

This is why I grumble about Steam ... I have 2 hours of free time ... and now I can't play any steam games? I've only waited 3 weeks for this free time ...  XO

Well ... after several restarts, un-installed and re-installed, even reset connection settings on the network as was suggested by steam's site, nothing. I wasted 2 hours of free time and had to head off to a work comitment. I get back (just now) and attempt to log in just for kicks before heading off to bed and it works ...

 

... all I want to do is play my game when I actually have the free time to play it. :annoyed:

Hmm, got TeamSpeak successfully installed on my machine but not much success after that. Here's the log. Am I doing something wrong?

You were trying to talk in a channel or chat box that you dont have permissions for. For example Talking the chat box "Carbon's Pew Pew Fun Zone" will get you this.

No one can talk in that channel as it is the server info channel. You need to use the individual channel chat boxes.

 

This is the most common thing that will cause this. There are others but many first timers make that mistake.
