Tokens?

I tried to go to the TotalGaming store today to see if the token prices had been brought into line with Impulse prices on any desirable games, but got redirected to the Impulse site.  As far as I can tell, my tokens are now inaccessible/unusable.  Wasn't there a plan to transition tokens to some kind of gift card for Impulse?  I never received any kind of warning email saying that my tokens were about to expire, and, in fact, Stardock has posted in the forums specifically that tokens would *not* expire.  Obviously, I'm not going to be ordering anything on Impulse until this situation is resolved satisfactorily.

hi all,

i am in the same situation having 3 tokens in my TGN account and have no way to access or redeem it as of now (28th Nov 2009). This happened without any notification from Stardock, yet the forum account information on

http://forums.impulsedriven.com/account/regs shows that

TotalGaming Network (10 Tokens) with an end date of Apr 12, 2010

Stardock should explain this and provide a solution to customers who 'believed' in the TGN tokens method, yet seemingly getting the short end of the deal (Having prepaid money for tokens and now forced to buy games which are priced higher as compared to the list price on Impulse)

Thanks.

I'm waiting for resolution on this as well. I would like to apply these remaining tokens to the products I'm interested in.

Apologies gang, the plug was pulled on TGN while I was on holiday. :annoyed:

The plan is to convert all remaining token amounts into an Impulse gift card that can be used for any product sold via the Impulse store ($7 per token). We finally got traction on dev time for this and it's slated to happen next week, though I'll get an update tomorrow morning for folks.

Here's an update - I'm told that the gift card system won't be ready until early January 2010. So here's what I can do in the interim:

1) If there's a game that was available via TotalGaming.net (not Impulse) that you wanted to spend your tokens on, you can PM me with the info and I'll handle the transaction manually. You must have enough tokens left to cover the cost. I cannot sell more tokens.

2) I can issue you an Impulse coupon good for whatever token dollar amount you have left ($7 per token). The catch here is that any money you don't spend with the coupon is lost forever, so you'd need to spend all of it (it's not good with any other coupon offer either).  So for example, if you have a coupon for $24 and you only spend $12.95 on your order, you will lose the remaining $11.05.

Short of that, in January anyone who still has tokens left will get information on how to use their gift card (where unused balances won't be lost).

Yarlan, thanks for responding. Personally I can wait until January, I just wanted a resolution. I'm happy with the effort. Will an e-mail go out to token holders?

hi Yarlen,

Thanks for the clarifications on the token issues.

Good to know...

Is there a way for me to buy Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy with one token?

Thanks a lot!

Yup, sure is. Please just send me a PM with the request. :)

Definitely, so please be sure to add stardock.com and stardock.net to your Safe list so that the email doesn't get smacked with a spam filter. ;)

I'll also post here to let folks know when the emails start to go out, that way if you don't get it you'll know and we can sort things out.

Thanks for the resolution.  I can wait until January.  For a moment I was worried that Stardock, of all companies, was giving customers the shaft, and then who would there be left to trust? : )

Just wish to publicly thank Yarlen for helping me resolve my TGN tokens issue.

Now I will be on Impulse more often. :)

Just got another super-sales eMail from Stardock.

FWIW here my reply I mailed back:

Dear people at Stardock!

It is very nice that you put so much effort in providing these offers. I could, however, appreciate it much more, if the soon-to-be-liquidated token system got at least a little attention, too.
As an example: "The Political Machine 2008" was on sale for less than 2$ lately, if I want to buy "The Political Machine" with tokens it would cost me 2 of them (roughly 6-7 times more expensive!!!). Things are similar with other titles, "Sins o.a.S.E." being probably the most prominent example.

Please understand that I refuse to purchase anything for which in theory I already bought tokens. And I also refuse to pay several times the actual price of a game just because I want to use my remaining tokens.

I understand that there are probably not many of us left with remaining tokens. So the economic incentive to do anything may not be high (especially since you already have our bucks). However I am not complaining that the token system gets little attention. It does not seem to get any at all - even the website just disappeared out of a sudden. No notifications, nothing.
And yes, I managed to google my way into the forums and read Yarlen's promise to change tokens into 7$ gift cards. After that has been promised for months now (over a year) all I can say is:
Seeing is believing.

Regards,
a frustrated customer

Is there any way to find out how many tokens I have left?  Pretty certain I had some.

Discovered I have 4 tokens left.  Any update on the coupons mentioned above?

This is starting to sound like Same Song, Nth Verse.  I posted on a different thread, back in October, noting how it had been a year (October 2008) since the coupon concept was first mentioned.  In early December '09, Yarlen tells us that the coupon/credit deal is being worked and will be up in "early January."  February will be here in 3 days, and no more word on the status.

I'm sure that Yarlen is honestly reporting the information that he/she is given.  I'm nearly as convinced that the long-promised coupon/gift card/credit system will never happen.

Hi,

Yarlen was last active over a month ago according to his profile.

This mess is very awesome Stardock.

I emailed them about this a few days ago.

I was just directed to this thread. :(

I opened a ticket with support about this garbage inconvenience and they referred me to this thread as well. They cannot be bothered to check for updates it seems.

Well I'm thinking to hell with the coupons, how about a cash refund, plus what ever interest accurued over the years Stardock has held my $$'s. This situation is very unfortunate. How difficult could it be to contact the customer, verify their address, and write them a check? Stardock had a chance to make it right, now I just want my money for products not provided back. I'll spend my money where I want to.

Sorry all. :'(    I've been informed that the gift card system is going into testing this week, so we're getting close.

For anyone who doesn't want to wait, I can manually redeem any remaining tokens for any Stardock product or game that was available on TGN. Failing that, I can also redeem it for a dollar amount coupon on the Impulse store for any product - but the coupon must be used in-full at the time of purchase.  If you'd like to do this, please PM me.

We cannot refund to a credit card or PayPal as the original transaction info no longer exists in our systems.

Another update - I have been promised that the gift card system will be ready next Wednesday (2/17/10).  It's most of the way there, but we need to add in some additional functionality so that if use all the money on your gift card, but it's not enough to cover the total bill, that you can use a credit card or PayPal for the rest.

I was getting ready to order Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy & pre-order Elemental: War of Magic.  I forgot about the latter being in development until I saw the article on Gamespot.  The article caught my attention and I have to say it's looking really good!

Elemental: War of Magic Updated Q&A - Progress Report and Improvements Over GalCiv

Anyways, I was getting ready to place the order and then remembered my TGN tokens.  So next Wed, huh?  After 2+ years I guess I can wait the 3 days to redeem.

By the way, these were from my order placed on 7/27/2007.  Looking at the emails, I think I ordered the 10 tokens to place my pre-order for Sins of a Solar Empire.  So it's kind of cool that I'll finally be able to use the last of my tokens on the Sins expansion.  Most other companies I'd have been annoyed that it took this long but a.) if I really felt the need to use the tokens you guys said to just contact support to use them, and b.) Stardock is a good company and publishes really good games - games that I like to play.  So keep up the good work. :)
