[MOD] Permanent Rook Towers

Ok, I know this is a game breaking mod so I dont need to be flamed.

That said I made this mearly for laughs, credit to Lifekatana. Got the idea from him while browsing the forums. Basically makes the towers permanent and gives them a lot more health. Quite fun actually even if it does really overpower a tower rook. Anyone prob could have made this mod but im posting for those who are too lazy to do so. Works for all levels of the rooks towers.

If enough people are interested then I'll balance the mod out a bit more to make it not quite so game breaking.

Just removed the countdown timer and self-kill script.

Permanent towers may not be overpowered if there's some catch. Like maybe an increase in mana cost or cooldown. Hmm it might be nice to try something like that. Or Rook towers become permanent when within close proximity of a real tower or tower location.

Yeah I was contemplating possible ways of making it balanced. I came up with making the towers stronger dmg wise, but really fragile or making them have like a 1000mp casting cost. I am just about to test a few different ideas ive had. I dont know if many people would like the idea of the rook being able to camp areas with permanent towers though. I personally just like being able to replace ones that the enemy have destroyed. My friend is glaring at me atm cos Ive forced him to play me at LAN with the mod ^^.

Awwww why, I personally think this makes the Rook less squishy. Im seriously thinking about making it as balanced as I can. Just need to do more testing of the modified versions ive made so far.

Rock less squishy...ok picture a lane filled with rook towers all th way down to your portal....thats what the average tower spammer does,  and now picture them not disappearing; now to top it off for every 1 tower you destroy rook is placing 2 -3 more depending on his mana set up.

 

Edit: we still need to add the sedna, ub, ere, or reg that usually always appear with rook to the equation. So now you have both towers and demiods to deal with, and fighting a tower or demigod while they stand next to each other is sometimes suicide.

one option is to make the permanence only on the lvl 15 skill.  At that point the game is usually determined and if you're on the losing team, something like this might actually be used to turn the game around....

no no no. This is a good thing, this will allow rook to actual have a fortress instead of a towerfarm which is in constant need of repair. Obviously a health nerf to compensate.

from what I can see, it does not remove the max # of towers you can have, so the rook can't just fill the board with them.  Though that *would* make for a funny Rook vs Rook grudge match mod.

So far im currently testing the idea of a heavy mp cost for the towers which is making them not as overpowering early game. Unfortunately by about lvl 8-12, depending on how im doing and how many mana regen items ive got, my friend gets crushed by my Rook easier than he should. Ill try the idea of just lvl 15, though I dont see that being too much of a balance. So far the best balancing ive found while keeping the towers permanent is to reduce the max amount of spawnable towers. Only having a max of 4 towers at lvl 15 makes it harder for the Rook to camp one zone as by then the enemy can pull them down pretty easily or their dmg is fairly negligable. Ill run a few more LAN games this afternoon and post my new version sometime tomorrow.

<edit> Okay, so my friend got bored of me playing Rook all the time, posted the version Ive been using so far while i play UB for a bit. Hopefully he'll let me go back soon enough <_< . Posted a Gag version too, It doesnt really have infinite (I couldnt think how to put that in), but I dont think anyone could spawn 999 towers in a game....

Try setting the number to -1, that will either crash or give you infinite.

As for the lvl 15, if you don't think its much of a balance, maybe at lvl 15, they get permenant AND cost more mana?   Then its a key choice to make when you get there... keep using lower mana cost or go permanent with higher mana cost...If still not enough, reduce numbers as you suggest too?

The reason I say make it lvl 15 is that it doesn't really affect early gameplay, but can modify the end game...

This mod is hilarious

Managed to pop up highest level of towers in AI's base and killed DA and Sedna when they spawned without me having to physically attack them myself XD

Something I noticed is that once you upgrade to a higher level of tower, you're old ones remain. Meaning you can have a maximum of 20 towers of light on the field... If they dont get destroyed that is

Added a lvl 15 only version. Made a 2000 mana cast cost too, this is no real big deal, most of the time by this point in the game my mana regen is like 80-120/s. Let me know how you all like this version or the balanced one and I'll make more changes with the feedback.

tried it and found 1000/3000/6000/10000 mana was some what balanced

however the damage output was also increased by 100/200/300/400

thanks for the mod

my max mana output/sec was somewhere around 400~450

and again changed to 650/1500/3000/5000 mana

damage is back to original and range is upgraded to 15/16/17/19 with AoE 1

RoF changed to 0.5/0.65/0.8/1

tried range 21 but it makes tower too much so nuffed it

this set up is a bit OP in normals but playable in 5(me and 4 normals) vs 5 nightmare

I think could be pretty awesome, cause rook's towers get somewhat useless when everyone is almost lvl20. mod could balance that use, since now rook can start building little defending areas for own portals or sth.
