I am talking about the new sci-fi show, which started to run recently... similarly to BSG it wants to reimagined version of the original show from 80´s, at least i read something like that.

So have you seen it? Have you seen the original? What do you think about it?

Yes, Yes, not bad...

A little early for comment... but it look good... for now, the few episodes are only putting the different main characters in place... will certainly become more interesting after a few episodes more

I saw it....... thought it pulled a little to the right but compared to ROTF it seems like a Michael Moore movie.............

Acting is OK, but whoever playes "Anna" is really good. I keep expecting her to lick her eyeballs! I really want to figure out what the heck the V's WANT, but it might be interesting if they really only want water and minerals but are so afraid of us they can't take any chances.

The traitor V is a breath of freash air, but I wish his girlfriend wasn't so......... color-matched. That was annoying in DS9, but after 20 or 30 years I think that they could have gotten away from that.

And on a closing not for my rather incoherent post..... I'M ROOTING FOR THE V'S!

Since I have seen the original, I sorta have a feeling where the series is heading. Still, first episode had most of the story from the whole of the former V series. I guess they have to do that cause building suspense about the V`s for 5 episodes is pointless, as we have seen the premise before.

It looks good to me. I have watched the first two episodes.

Anna is played by Morena Baccarin. She also starred in Stargate SG-1 (Adria) and Firefly/Serenity (Inara).

In fact, you have two former V series : The "V" and the "V:The Final Battle"... there is enough varience from the original "V" to lead on a full new story, more deeper that the original story...

The new V 2009 can turn to be like the new BSG where character was more strong and have lead to a fully new story... i don"t know the script for the next few episodes but there is a lot of room for great drama potential...

The traitor V is a breath of freash air

First, what make him a traitor ? Having respect ( and love ) for alien life don't make it a traitor... in fact, i feel that a guy like him will be the starting point of more collaboration between V and human... In the original serie, human win the battle... the so called traitor can lead to a lot of new thing... i think that fan will be surprise on how the story can turn... a lot of open door remain for a fully new story... these show can become a crash or a really good story... all his in the hand of the people writing the scenario...

So, simply wait and see...

I call him "the traitor V" becuase I can't remember his name, and all the other Vs (including himslef) call him a traitor.

I love it to be honest. I liked old V but when I saw it again at a time when I was no longer 8 years old, it felt corny. The new one seems pretty cool.

In the process of watching the new episode now...... the rigtist miltaristic bent is beginning to get more pronounced again, but maybe I'm just being paranoid......

One thing I find interesting is that the aliens appear to be actually speaking English (as opposed to just being translated like the did in Star Trek), and use human ideoms, expressions, social structures, and even humor, EVEN WHEN THERE ARE NO HUMANS WATCHING! This is either a really bad gap on the writer's part, or.... there's some connection between humans and Vs!

Also, the pizza-shop hookup confirms in my mind that the Vs are specifically trying to convert G-woman's son to their operation...... but why?! What value could they possibly place on a 17-year-old deadbeat.... and do we really have to sit through the obligatory human-on-alien bangup??? (Speaking of gratuitous sex-appeal, how many FBI agents actualy wear negligees on the job?!)

The traitor doctor and unstable Dale were fun, but I find it hard to like the Faulkner woman.... before or after her copout.

Lastly, I find these aliens surprisingly low-tech considering their other abilities. I mean, keypads and flechette launcers?! I would have expected more like the Dr.'s brain-scanner and those neato coat-cams (which I want a LOT of.... for peaceful uses only, of course *_* )....

MOTHER?!?!?!

And on my usual warped note....... GO V'S! DOWN WITH HUMANTY!!!

Well dont want to spoil but I think they are trying to mate with the humans?  Thats the only thing I can figure out, remembering the original. Or they might make him into the leader of the converted humans.

Also they said that next episode is the last episode of 2009! WTF! NOOOOOOOOOOOO

That still doesn't explain why they want him specifically... his friend would be easier to push over, ESPECIALLY if they're attempting to procreate...... so it's either to spy on Mommy (who they still don't take seriously enough to kick out of her job or take any other action against) or... something else.

On that subject, humans and aliens that are at all different from us physiologically, much less completely reptillian, should NOT be able to produce offspring of any kind without genetic tinkering so heavy they would essentially be creating a creature from scratch and then mass-cloning it w/o any natural conception being involved..... in which case they could just mass-produce their population anyway. But this show is not exactly what I'd call hard science....

I don't think their purpose is to procreate.

If you remember the original series, we were food.

But there was a hint given in this episode that might shed some light.

Bliss.

Anna keeps the other V's under control with a drug. They are all addicts.

So, the main twist from the original series (my prediction, at this point in the series) is that they need us, not for food - but as an integral part in the manufacture of 'Bliss' . Which is why they can't simply kill us and take over the planet. They need something in our bodies that is an essential component of the drug.

Yum, yum - Morena Baccarin!!! }:) <3 :D \o/

I've always had a monumental weakness for demure raven haired temptresses of petite stature!

Story wise, I have the same idea as the prior post and will stick with it until new information leads me think otherwise.

Yep, she was very "hot" in Stargate too

Not sure about the bliss...in the original serie, Robin ( human) fell for Steven ( V). He impregnated her, and she had a baby, (a hybrid) of the races, which later became known as the "star child". In the new V, the sex are reversed... The V is a woman and the human is a man... Robin gives birth to twins ( a human looking girl with a forked tongue, and a reptilian boy ). The boy will die... in the body, the resistance will find a bacterie called "red dust" who can kill the "V"...

Mhmm, actual human flesh food is a rarety but what humans have other than the flesh is what they really want. You can call it bliss. Some call it fear, love, anger, jealousy, etc. They do feed off of humans but not in the way most would imagine. They feed off of "something" in more than one way. Some say the V's created man. Some say humans were created for one reason, and one reason only. Others praise the V's for what they have done, and what they are preparing for humanity. In the end you may never trully know. Awareness helps, but I suppose you could always watch the show.

I used to have the 1983 movie V on VHS once, it seems to have disappeared. Oh well, the movie was good. So far, with the lack of sex scenes, it is better than SGU in that respect. It's probably the best series made currently. Can't say that for certain, though, because I only have the internet and broadcast for watching TV on, and cable usually has more to offer.

white collar is pretty good (if you don't mind cheesy writing) ... oh wait, what?

Nevermind me ... but here is a valid SG-1 question. Did they ever progress the storyline of SG-1 beyond the 20th episode of Season 9? (Camelot)

Yes, indeed.  The made for DVD movie The Ark of Truth completed the Ori storyline, which is where the above image of flaming Adrea comes from.  The Baal storyline was completed in the second film, Coninuum.

Last episode rundown:

  • I get the definate sense that they're trying to channel the X-Files here..... with limited success. What really made the X-Files X-Filey was the sense of mystery, the unanswered questions. This doesn't have that.
  • The whole priest/soldier thing rings a bit hollow to my anti-militarist ears, but compared to, say, Stargate or Transformers this show seems like a meeting of the One World Foundation.......
  • Gratuitois sex appeal drives me up the wall.... the Bliss stuff was especially sickening.... but then again the idea is intersting.
  • Interspecies pregnancy makes no sense frfom a scientific perspective, but then again the show makes no sense from a scientific perspective.
    • One thing that interests the xenobiologist in me is that not only do Vs feel pain when their human skin "suits" are removed, but that they'll actually die.... makes me wonder if there's more to it than just a disguise......

Overall, an OK show......... still wanna know what exactly the drug in the flu shots does.....

ONWARD V'S!!!!!!!!!! DOWN WITH THE APES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the Bliss stuff is a chemical control agent, such as what the Founders on DS9 used to control the Jem'Hadar. In Deep Space Nine, the shapeshifters used an addictive drug called "Ketracel-white" in order to remain necessary to their soldier faction. It seems like the "Vs" here use an addictive drug called Bliss in order to manipulate their own.
