Last person to post wins, unless they are a moderator or admin.

Basically, this game is played so that the last person who post wins. What do they win? The ThreadKiller's Achievement; The honor of being the last person to post by virtue of the content of their post. However, moderators, admins, and anyone else who has the ability to lock the thread are disqualified from winning the ThreadKiller's Achievement, if they win by locking. If the thread is won by method of locking, the "winner" gains the Achievement Of Reprehensible Epic Lameness.

Sup guys,

Right now we are being assaulted by the largest ice storm I've ever seen. The last time I remember going through one was when I was still in high school in the late 80's when I was still living in Nashville, TN and we loss power for about 12 hours. You couldn't walk on the sidewalks or anything for that matter because of the heavy ice. Greyhound has cancelled everything since yesterday coming and leaving NYC. Down south, ice storms happen every few years so when they called for one, you stock up and don't leave home.

Up here, I do believe they will call a state of emergency because people will try to go out and the next thing you know, the 495 to the Lincoln tunnel will be shut down because of too many accidents. Anyway, will keep you posted, plus it gives me time to work on my lore, provided the power doesn't get knocked out. And for the record, I do believe this is NYC first ice storm, ever.

Gonna be crazy as over 15 million people between Philadelphia and Stamford,Ct try to deal with something they never ever been through. Will have pics during and the aftermath.....

Bison.....

Two years ago during Super Bowl week, didn't NYC have all three of it's airports shut down because of ice storms screwing with the City and surrounding areas?  I know in 1873 NYC got turned into one massive ice cathedral but that means nothing for anyone walking around today.  =]

Anyway, good luck with that.  I have lore waiting to be posted myself, if I hear back from Oreo® or Friday rolls around, whichever happens first.  If the power goes out, just grab a pen and paper and write the old fashioned way like I usually do, noob.  ;]

I've been living here since '07 and I do believe that was an snow event, this is all sleet and freezing rain....

In this picture, I'm in my bedroom, 2nd floor, you can see the snow piles from the last storm. However, all the white is pure sleet....

Funny. Anyway, made it through, it stayed as sleet and that is a whole lot better than freezing rain. Now I have to go to chip away at the sidewalk or get a ticket....

Failure to clean sidewalks after wintry weather has passed by in a reasonable amount of time tax, i.e. A fine....

That's bull. Aside from the fact that sidewalks are government property and thus they should take care of them, it's also snowing hell all over the country. What, they can't let it go until you aren't likely to get frostbite?

Even though the sidewalk is city property, you're still in charge of maintaining it's cleanliness.  Same with the parkway.  Most cities consider 10 feet in from the curb their property to do things with which is why you cannot plant or remove trees or rearrange things without their permission first, but they expect you to handle the daily maintenance and care and fine you if you fail to keep up appearances.  It's all bullshit, but that's just the way things are.

Something else as well, don't know about other cities but if your house is on a corner here in Paterson, you pay more in property taxes....

Corner houses are usually slightly bigger lots then the other houses...  At least in LA.  Our property taxes are based on lot size, so it's in your best interest to have your lot appraised for a larger size when you go to sell it so you get more money for it, and smaller when you buy it so you pay less taxes.

I rent too, but yes, property taxes in Texas are based on property size and value of materials built onto the property. When they come to collect, you take pictures of every flaw and even run a hammer through a few walls just for good measure.

Okay, around here you don't have to worry about too much sidewalk maintenance and they really don't come around looking to fine you. Even still, they should kinda understand that about a third of the nation is getting hammered. Granted, there are entire police forces dedicated to being revenue collectors, so I shouldn't be surprised that they'd squeeze every penny out of an opportunity.

Our sidewalks double as stoves during the summer.

Same here part of the hot season. During the other part we use it to boil water. Who wants hard boiled?
