Been away a few months, whats the status?

Haven't played for a few months, really like the game but got frustrated with the bugs and multiplayer not working very well.

Anyways, just wondering how stable things are now, when i last played skirmish and patheon were pretty much broken, and customs had just gotten proxi servers, but it still seemed to take a long time to find a full game.

it really hasnt changed.

It's easier to get in a game if you compare it to a few months ago, but beyond that I can't think of anything worth mentioning.

Please check out the latest dev journals on the forums.  2 new demigods should be out within the next 30 days or so.

The early stage connectivity issues have been removed, providing a much smoother gameplay. A small minority of the player base is experiencing issues with Ping Spiking that has so far been unable to be corrected, despite a lot of effort and some very detailed information from the players being effected.
Several balancing changes have resulted in a much better in-game experience. The rewards for killing Priests and Angels were decreased, making the upgrades much more viable as opposed to feeding your enemies. The Heart of Life had it's priced significantly increased as well as being shifted to the Artifact store, resulting in more balanced games. Sedna's advantage with level 3 healing minions was brought into line, however she is still a force to be contended with with any level of healing minions.

Overall, no significant changes have occured resulting in a drastically different experience, just small changes with smoothed out the game play and made the game more enjoyable.

Hope to see you online!

Well, to be accurate, a percentage of the Demigod community have begun playing those games; I have both. I wouldn't say they've switched; this isn't MMO territory.

People are fleeing Demigod in droves. I currently see 25 games in progress.

I suspect that the connectivity issue isn't the only reason.

Stardock made it clear that demigod is basically unmoddable (in the sense of creating new maps and DGs) unless you happen to own a $12,500 software (granny 3d).

Reaction time regarding easily fixable bugs (Sedna's Healing Wind required the change of one number in a lua script) is counted in quartals.

Zero feedback from the developers - only the publisher shows up to calm the fans down.

At least the two new Demigods will show up soon ... or so they claim. No new maps. And Frogboy made it clear that development of new content is too expensive to make it available for free. And unless Demigod miraculously gains hordes of new players it won't be economically justifiable to make new ones.

Too bad ... I'd never have imagined that having a state-of-the-art engine can actually be a drawback. I guess that happens if you don't plan on modding from the beginning.

Exactly what this dude said... as long as the definition of "quartal" is a mysteriously long time.

Off topic - thundercles... that name from brak or does it originate elsewhere?  Sorry for the quick highjack.

I meant quarter. 'Quartal' would be the german word. :)

They work now.  But the population base is so small that there is no such things as a competitive game.  The system has to match you up with whoever, because the queue is so small.  And of course Pantheon still shuts down for some period of time after the last Pantheon is completed.  Basically, it's a ghost town.  Your best bet is to open the browser to server stats and use that as a guide as to whether to queue.  If they move ranked games to Pantheon only and got rid of Skirmish, expect to see a resurgence.

I heard that many people play or played on unofficial servers.

How well populated are those?

i used to play on unofficial servers, it USED to be better then official, but now its, belive it or not, more of a ghost town then the actual game, ghost flying around everywhere yo

Yeah... I'm a big Adult Swim fan.

It was a better name when i played Rook and Oak... now that i'm playing the QoT it feels kind of inappropriate.

Oh dear lord. I just purchased the game and came here to see what the community is like while it downloads. Wish I had come here first - I'm already regretting my purchase. Damn it! I can't afford to throw money away like this. So this game is already dead?

Haha no, just people like to say it's dead because it doesn't have World of Warcraft's population. I've never had any troubles getting a game going - and I'm Australian, with a much smaller community to play with.

I wouldn't say dead, but it's definitely got a lot fewer players than when I was playing about a month ago...

I get into games a lot easier but ther other night when my friend and i were trying to find a game we encountered a LOT of drop outs (possibly issues with two players sharing a router?)

On the plus side people are more accepting of my Austrlian ping (350 to 400) and it doesn't seem to impact gameplay negatively.

Hmm, ok so it may not be as bad as some here are making out? Hehe, I just fired it up, setup my profile, video and control settings and went into a single player skirmish. The game looks beautiful, but I have absolutley no idea how to play it - Am I just supposed to figure it out as I go along - or is there some documentation somewhere? BTW ZehDon and TheTrav, I'm an Aussie too :-)

You'll be beating easy then normal quick enough...

Unfortunately, no, there isn't any in-game tutorial, however the manual can be downloaded from the Stardock website, it's still located here if I remember correctly.

Head over here, this is a fantastic post that should have you knowing the basics and kicking some ass sooner rather than later. Keep in mind some of this information is outdated, and may differ from what actually shipped.

Best of luck, hope to see you online!

I to have dropped in to see how it is going. I was one of they people that switched over to LoL beta. I was hoping that demigod had somehow been resurrected but by the sounds of it it hasn't. I still respect Stardock but my feelings for GPG has diminished and probably won't ever buy there games again. I'll check back in another couple of months to see whats up but i'm not holding my breathe.
