Question for Skinners: Are you updating themes for Windows 7?

I wanted to get a general feel from the skinners about Windows 7.  I know some of you already have updated some WindowBlinds themes to get them ready for Windows 7, and I wanted to see who else is doing similar work.

  1. Do you plan on updating previous WB skins to work with Windows 7?
  2. Are you creating new WB skins just for Win7?
  3. Do you plan on making skins compatible with XP, Vista, and Windows 7, or just one of them?

Thanks in advance to any skinners who answer.  :)

I'll update certains skins and make new Win 7 skins when I get my pre-ordered final version of W7 and when WB 7 and SKS are 'final'

At that point I suppose I'll be skinning 3 OS's I can't see anyway out fof it.

I don't see much sense until then.

Also a bit curious about two skins I did for SD that were supposedly for 7 but haven't showed up yet.

Yeah ill move on to 7 when its 'final' also update 1 or 2 skins.

Going to be hard work having 3 OS's to get it right for....... :|

Whenever I look at an older skin with the thought of updating, I can never resist the urge to rebuild the thing from the bottom up. Problem is, it usually turnes into a totally different skin all together!

I feel that in the future, we will be producing skins for only 2 OS. Xp and Win7. Vista is, in essence an early pre beta Win 7 and will go the way of Windows ME.

I'll make skins for my current OS.

I will finish my first, and probably only, vista skin before I migrate over to win7

I won't remake any skins (I've had my first blind on the back burner for a re-do for some time, but...)

I am in the process now of updating some of my older skins that were XP only to both XP and Vista.  When I get my copy of Win7, I will be uninstalling Vista, so I will only be able to make skins for Win7 and XP from then on.  (I pre-ordered Win7, so I should be receiving it sometime in October).  I have no idea how to make my desktop dual boot for both Vista and Win7.  As long as I have the same laptop that I have now, I will continue to make skins for XP...Vista will not run on it.

Well, I'm still working on my first WB. It will be for all three, I think. Dunno when I'll finish though.  :d

I am currently on XP.  I will continue to skin for the operating system that I am on.  If/when I am able to upgrade, I will then skin for the upgrade.  It is just too much of a pain to skin without the benefit of seeing what I'm doing.

Miricla will be updated for W7 when SKS7 is available to me. I'm not savvy enough to figure out all the hand-coding involved in making it fully 7 compatible now.

I am currently working on another skin which is in the same situation. When the skin is done, it will be for Vista and XP, with a 7 substyle to be added later.

Thanks, Jim!  \o/ It wasn't available last time I looked.

Some of those new settings in SKS7 look a bit daunting. o_O Time to tear into Corporate and do some studying.

I, fortunately, am in a situation where I have all 3. To be honest, I'd probably move over to 7 across the board, but since I like to skin 'em, I won't.

No, for the following reasons:

1.    I'm sticking with XP as long as possible, or until someone gives me some money for a new pc

2.    I'll start skinning again when SKS is as usable as version 6

Fuzzy : The good thing about 7 is : It runs much better on old hardware than Vista. ;)

1. I think many of the old ones are too old to update. Some of the new ones perhaps.

2. I just finished one. Although it's for XP and Vista as well.

3. As John mentions about supporting 3 OS's, this is one of my griefs as well. I can manage 2, 3 is a bit much. Yeah, I'm lazy, but I also support progress and would love to see people move away from XP to something new and modern. There's a ton of time consuming bits to XP skins that are annoying to do.

I would like to is see more for W-7 but have found that most of the newere skins for Vista work just fine in W7 RC 1 64 bit, It is some of the older ones that do not work correctly
