Release 0.54.1 Full Download for Rebellion 1.95+
& Patch 0.54.2

Sins Of The Younger Races Remastered

NEW - Balvarin Carrier and Minor Factions fix!

Installation Guide:

  1. Download the latest Sins Remastered mod from here:
    https://www.moddb.com/mods/sinsre
  2. Extract the archive into a 'SinsRemastered' folder in your 'C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder.
  3. Download the latest Babylon 5 Sins of the Younger Races mod from here:
    https://www.moddb.com/mods/sins-of-the-younger-races
  4. Extract the archive into your root 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder instead of a new mod folder as the archive ALREADY contains a premade 'SotyrRemastered' folder inside of it (so if you're not careful you'll end up with a mod folder inside of a mod folder and it won't work lol).
  5. Start Sins and go to 'Options', then 'Mods', and you should see the mods you've installed.
  6. Enable 'SotyrRemastered' and then enable 'SinsRemastered' too. Make sure that the load order is SotyrRemastered first/top and then SinsRemastered second/bottom.
  7. Restart Sins and you should be good to go!

Sometimes the in-game mod loader can be a bit funky so if you can't see the mods you've installed or something isn't working then enabling the mods via the 'EnabledMods.txt' file in your 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder where you installed the mods to is the other alternative. It should look like this to work:

TXT2
SinsArchiveVersion 194
Version 0
enabledModNameCount 2
enabledModName "SotyrRemastered"
enabledModName "SinsRemastered-v0.95b"

Hey everyone, just a note, I've played a number of games with 0.52 now and the Shadows and Vorlons don't do ANYTHING. They'll sit there the entire game not building a single ship, not colonizing a single planet, etc. This will happen regardless of AI difficulty or settings. I've also gone back a few versions and verified it happens back to at least 0.43. I know they have to be nerfed a little to not just steamroll everyone, but at present they may as well not be in the game at all. They are nonfunctional.

Thanks, we know. The AI from sins is pretty stupid and has to be worked around a lot. And we are not that good at it

As a non modder I'll use non-specific technical language- why not just use "the same AI" as the other races and nerf the Vorlon/Shadow ships if they're too powerful? As it stands now there's no point in including them in a game at all.

We were debating running them as NPC races with their own non-player tech scripts but didn't decide. If either race is left to run "normally", that race wins. The races aren't balanced. The Narn are the most challenging to play.

I still maintain there should be a middle ground between "steamrolls everyone" and "totally useless"- at the end of the day it's all just numbers.

Hey Darvroth. Do you mean like minor races? That's a cool idea. Let's discuss on Discord.

Meanwhile, getting the Narn models ready. Bit of trouble with the AO in conjunction with Remastered. Hope to talk with @Tobiwahn_Kenobi about that soon.

Time will tell. I don't think Epic will be exclusive, though perhaps first for a time. Sort of like how streaming works. The future is murky.

I've never had any understanding at all of this irrational hatred people have for the Epic store. It's a platform selling Windows games exactly like Steam. Steam also is a form of DRM. Countless games are exclusive on Steam and nowhere else, as they are for Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo. It's OK to hate just one of those distribution systems and no others, I guess, but then don't expect to see the games you want developed actually get funded and made. I find this attitude incomprehensible.

In my case it isn't a hate, its choosing an eco system. I used to have an Impulse account when they were growing rapidly before being sold to Game Stop, who then didn't do anything with their purchase. I use Android, not Apple. I have friends who use Apple but not Android. I don't have unlimited funds and must choose where to sink them. Long ago, Steam was my choice, I don't use EA or any of the other publisher sites not out of hate but as a rational economic choice. I wish Epic well but I'm not playing the exclusive game. I'll wait till SOASE 2 eventually is available on Steam.

It is not about the store, it is about their behavior as a company and their intentions. I use Apple but am divided on the merits of the App Store case. I do think that the way the did it though and boasted about it is aweful.

Epic loses money left and right on their store just to gain a foothold talking about how the 30 pervent cut of Steam isn't fair while knowing full well that their 12 percent cut is not sustainable.

Valve didn't use the Store to make them (only) rich, they invested in so many things hardware and software and I respect them for it.

I did respect Epic for Unreal Engine and the games until the went tencent and did the micro transaction crap. That is something I do not condone. I still am marveled by their UE5 engine though.

I have a few launchers installed and it took me some teeth grinding to install EA Origin but I was weak. Only played 1 game on it though. Don't like EA and don't like Origin.

I lived Impulse before they sold it.

TL:DR - I don't want to install Epic Games Store and don't want some Tencent stuff on my PC. So I will wait for it to come to steam in 2025 or so.

Yarlen posted this on the SOASE2 forums, on the topic of steam support:
Not until sometime after final release.

So there's hope.

I would also add that what Tim Sweeny is doing with EGS exclusivity is anti-consumer.  By offering developers and publishers these sweetheart deals, he is trying to force you, the consumer, to adopt an inferior product (the EGS) that cannot compete against Steam on its own merits.

Thats the way I see it too.

It'll be interesting to see how easy porting mods from Sins I to Sins II will be.

Although I'd imagine animated turrets would bring to life some of the B5 models such as EA Hyperion, Omega & Centauri Primus.

Hopefully, moving ship sections (rotating habitat section on Omega/Explorer class) or the folding "leaves" on a Vorlon cruiser maybe easier to implement.

Since each missile, strike craft, etc will be individually targeted and tracked...makes me wonder if they still will use squadrons or if each model will behave independently. Just pondering out loud the potential nuance and complexity this could add to the tech trees.

I don't expect any porting possibility between sin1 and sins2. That would limit sins 2 too much.

I agree, but people will mod Sins2...I fully expect it to begin even in Beta. Not sure how feature complete the game will be at launch or if each race/faction is adding additional core code/features or merely represent a new spreadsheet of variables and some art for the existing engine.

Nice!

How many of the new models made it into that build?

I think 2. The Vorlon constructor and the Balvarin Carrier.
