Well, after 7 years of floundering around in a life that was not for me, I'm going back to what I know and do best.  I've been given an opportunity that will not come around again and I'm taking it.  I'm USMC to the bone and finally, after all this time, I'm getting back to my roots.  I've been working at trimming down to fighting weight, literally, and I'm continuing to get into shape for active duty which is taking up my free time.

When I broached the subject with my wonderful wife a few weeks ago during a much needed vacation, she was very supportive of it.  Of course, she's a Marine wife.  Those who know, know. ;)    She's the best and I don't deserve her.  (I scored way out of my league with her.)

All of this however causes a conflict for the other thing that I love doing, which is skinning.  So skinning takes a backseat.  Maybe one day I'll have time, but not now.  You understand.  This community has been great and I'm thankful for all the support over the years.  I'll lurk around a bit before leaving but that's about it.

"Starship Troopers"- R.A. Heinlein. Really a great novel. If you have a few minutes, grab it. It'll well be worth your while.

"Starship Troopers"- R.A. Heinlein. Really a great novel.

Best idea in the book was nobody was allowed to vote or serve in public office unless they had done a stint in the military.Weeded out people who were not serious about serving their country or deciding whats best for it.(rather than just being a ploitician because it served his or her best interest. B)

Fightin' bigass bugs was just a framework for his political,military and citizenship ideas.

 

It was a fun movie but hardly a deep one(like the book)...the makers decided bug killin' was more important.More exciting maybe but when the arrived for battle at klandau or whatever...I laughed out loud at how closely bunched together the fleet was in space...kinda like lining up you men in rows in front of each other in a broad meadow and yelling charge! :P Even if you miss what your aiming at your bound to hit something. :rofl:
