Where are patches/updates??

1st post - greetings

Just wondering how to get updates for this game. It's my 2nd install (had it on my old PC for a while) and have just re-installed it on this one.

My problem is hitting the "Update" link ingame just takes me to a dead end with a "file no longer available" message at this very site.

I read about a 1,17 patch @ impulse but, when i go and have a browse there, see no listing of such an update.

 

Someone please advise. :S

In order to patch, you must use Impulse.  Your game should be linked to your account (if you bought the box from a store, you'll hvae to do this manually; if you bought it from SD it's done automatically) and be updateable from there.

Forgive my n00bishness but.....

Do i have to download Impulse to even SEE this patch?

I've been over there and had a browse and saw nothing but the game itself + packs.

A couple of sentences explaining how Impulse works would be much appreciated.

Download Impulse, make an account, register the game, download.

My update is now "preparing" (ooo - it's off and running....after 5 minutes or so).

Only another 2 hours or so and i'll be able to play again.

 

My reasons for switching to xbox 360 are all flooding back now. :|

Nah - patches and machine obsolescence mainly. Granted it's not so bad these days with newfangled apps like Impulse, but it's just all the palava of getting a game up to speed before playing it. I remember spending at least 3 hours last year downloading a squillion updates for a game (Co of Heroes I think).

Xbox games regularly need patches but there's no thinking involved. (And bought gamerpics are for fools)

Anyways - can't big up the 360 too much as i'm back to PC strategy games aren't I? :blush:

Ugh. Company of Heroes patching was horribly annoying. Nevermind the fact that I won't play online and won't see those several gigs of content it makes me download, but it's also all in a set of incremental updates. Somebody needs a good thumping for that one.

This is old theat, Stardock is no longer control Impulse but Gamestop. Time had much changed since Aug, 2009. LOL!

If you bought it from Impulse/Gamestop, that client has to be used to patch it. If you bought on Steam, then Steam handles it (automatically, so you've already got the patches).

Yep, but problem with impulse under gamestop so much change that some not happy, I just had learned last week, that gamestop do not gave you order right away and you can't download right away, steam and stardock do this gave you game download right away after order but not gamestop. and I'm still waiting upgrade and free DLC and patch of 1.1 for Star Prospector, still 1.01 version...ah well, I hope they (gamestop) upgrade, it's been out since 6 day ago now.
