Information Re: FF3.5

I just started using FF3.5 recently and found that I don't have the ability to do copy and pase functions.  Is there some work around or add-on I'm missing?

add-on I'm missing?

I wonder if it's just the opposite.......maybe it's an add-on causing the issue

Copy and paste in FF is disabled as a security feature.

right click copy/paste using FF seems slightly off if disabled...

I can right click and copy all the time

I can right click and paste in the Quick Reply box only if there is nothing else already there - if any text is already in the reply box, then right click paste won't work

On Firefox 3.5.1 here with none of the problems anyone in this thread is reporting.

Starlight, starbright, first star I see tonight...
The StARBRIGHT in the Night Company, headquarters based on the planet Dreamwave....in its haste to deliver the desired star, tripped over Orions sword and well, this is the result...a calamity of utmost proportions...

The above I just copied and pasted from notepad ( one of my wallpaper descriptions) and I have FF 3.5.1   .

But like Bichur said, only if there is nothing written in the box.  I just tried to copy and paste now, and the only way it works is the way Lantec said  "Works for me using keyboard shortcuts CRTL+C & CTRL+V" .

Right click copy/paste, Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V both work in Firefox 3.5.1 for me, no problems copying or pasting anything.  If you are using Firefox 3.5, try upgrading to 3.5.1.

is this done in a blank quick reply field?

does it work for you (right clicking) after you type something in the reply field then go to a reply above, right click copy then right click paste below what you have already typed?

yep, it does for me

huh, typed 'testing'

hit enter twice

on the 'yep' line when I right clicked to paste, it gave me the other right click menu which is pulled from the forum box (insert/edit link, unlink, etc)

then I tried another right click just a hair to the left, I got the normal menu

No, as a matter of fact I experienced the problem you are having and it refered me to the link in Reply #13 above.  Weird!  Well, just another goof reason found for going back to Internet Explorer.  >:(

As per instructions add lines to user.js file as such for this forum...

user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "allowclipboard");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites", "https://forums.wincustomize.com/");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.cutcopy", "allAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.paste", "allAccess");

then be sure to use the buttons in firefox toolbar to copy and paste with as seen here...

I use notepad++ to edit the file thus whenever I open notepad it opens the file for me. Then I can add or take out what I want to use with firefox security for java scripts.

Just add the buttons by right clicking the top toolbar and selecting customize. Then drag the buttons to the toolbar as such. Stop right clicking text and use the buttons provided with firefox. Once you add the url for the forum you can copy and paste anything in the forum to where ever in the forum as such with these buttons.

Hope this helps to make it more explained for you.

Also just as if you use short cut keys as with Photoshop ctrl+z is to undo as usual and all need to do is hilight what you want to copy - no right click is needed. This is a java function... as seen here

and paste it in the forum ...

just as so in this test here;

Please see this page here for a fix to your copy and paste problems.

Follow instructions carefully!

Every time I try to copy or paste this site says it is disabled.

IF you right click between the 1st character space on a line and the left border edge (ie: between the left border and 'IF' ), right click paste works fine and it will paste in where the cursor spot is blinking

Yeah, like I'm gonna copy and paste Barack Obama's signature and use it to launch WWIII. :-"

I mean, where do Mozilla get off... introducing a 'security' feature that hampers my ease of use??  Bastards!!! >:(

Not only that, this 'supposed' security feature has workarounds and addons to bypass it... so why do Mozilla persist with it!  It's like closing the barn door after the effing horse has bolted.... don'tcha think?

I suppose the question begging here is... who's effing security???  The material (text, etc) is there on the WWW for all to see, so how is disabling copy and paste enhancing somebody's privacy/security???   It's not like the data collecting, nosey bastards over at Google are gonna be hindered, is it!!

Nope, it's no more than an annoying, pain in the arse inconvenience, and Mozilla needs to discontinue this pain in the arse hinderance to ease of use RIGHT NOW!!!!

*rant off*  Hehe. there's nothing like a good 'vent' to get the circulation flowing. :-" :d ;P

I heard a whisper that due to curried cabbage intake, your 'vent' circulates quite well...... :P

By the way just to be clear the copy paste problem only happened on this site. Works fine on other sites.
