Can We Get An Update?

Can We Get An Update?

These forums are so much awesomer when Frogboy is posting around. I had a gameless night tonight. I'm still having trouble with time outs in online games and there are some simple bugs to fix in game as well like the 3rd level priests. I even think the valor flag bug exists? I feel like GPG is screwing us for SupCom 2.

If 1.2 EVER comes out, it would suprise me this late in DG's "life".  They got the ROI in the first 5 months, after that it's a timesink.  Small publishers don't make money on improving the games, only initial release numbers, then it's time to move on.

Being as Demigod isn't 6 months old, we're currently within the period where the game will see it's inital returns. After the 6 month window, the support of the developers is directly responsible for future returns - at least in multiplayer centric titles; additional content, bugs and glitch fixes, these kinds of things. Being as the game's most recent update was received less than three weeks ago, and they've already confirmed Modding support and organised Team features are in the works, it's fairly obvious that this game's "life" isn't even close to being over.

As the game is sold via a Digital Distribution network, they'll continue to see returns on it as no retail publishing is required after the initial release; they lose nothing to keep the game available to the public. As the game also requires no servers, unlike client/server model games, it's inexpensive to continue to run and will provide a solid base for any people who decide to continue to play. This was the chosen method for distribution - being as Stardock is a small publisher - and as such will continue to see returns on the game for some time. The Developers, Gas Powered Games, will continue to provide 12 months of contractual improvements to the community via their publishing agreement with Stardock. Publishers not usually improve their games - the people who make them do.

If you think a three month old game is "late" in it's life cycle and as such the third update patch from the Developer won't be received - while they continue to work on the additional content, demo, and modding tools - then I can only deduce that you know nothing about this topic.

zeh  if they have already got the ammount of money they want and  they are going to get more in the future then why should  they  even  bother with updates  this is what most companys do and GPG has only done 2-3 patches so  then do u expect the modding tools and the new content

They bother because they signed a contract stating that they would, they don't have an option here. More importantly, because if they invest money now Demigod will be a 'classic' multiplayer title and generate income for them from Digital sales for years. Companies such as EA Games used to operate by trying to get new retail releases every 12 months, or every 4 and 1/2 months for The Sims 2, to see a continual revenue stream. This is not what happens with Digital sales; they're available 24/7 in unlimited numbers forever. You don't need new releases if the product is a quality one. You need to change your mindset for the digital sales, Si1foo.

Also, not to be rude, may I code a small translator for your posts?

I Iagree with you Don, but you need to open your eyes! Words are words and it seems your company hired people with "IMBA" Blogging skills instead of action.

Words are words, action is action

The last release was upon us less than three weeks ago. How much more do you want? Seriously?

Kryo posted this today (7/21/09):

We're looking forward to a hotfix (not 1.2) later today that addresses some crash and stat issues.

over here http://forums.demigodthegame.com/359007/#2310896.  So, hotfix is coming.  Note, he didn't indicate we'd be getting a release today, so they might just be getting that hotfix and have to run it through QA.  Guess we'll see.

I want an working ladder so people actually can compete, for me and for many others! It's kinda dull to play when it dosen't count,

Do you understand that?

If the only reason you play is for a number besides your name, the update could be released tomorrow and it won't make things any better for you. You'll just come back on here and post about about imbalances or tweaks that you think need to be made because you think it's having some kind of effect on your ranking.

I should have learned my lesson with Dungeon Siege.

Can you please re-word your post? I don't understand it at all.

ranking has always been fucked up on this game  i didn't even bother after the reset  no point   i didn't even see the point in the reset  if  they had a working version of the ranking system then a reset would be needed but a reset  with no reason is pointless
