Can We Get An Update?

These forums are so much awesomer when Frogboy is posting around. I had a gameless night tonight. I'm still having trouble with time outs in online games and there are some simple bugs to fix in game as well like the 3rd level priests. I even think the valor flag bug exists? I feel like GPG is screwing us for SupCom 2.

Seems like Frogboy has abandoned us. Nothing for a while now.

This is GPG for you. They did the same shit with Forged Alliance.

Well, when there is nothing to say there's not much point in saying anything. I don't blame SD or Frogboy, I blame GPG, it's ulitimately on thier heads to deliver as the developers.

And not to bash GPG but they have yet to ever release a top shelf game (imo) the original Dungeon Siege was the only widely known game and even that was a cookie cutter arpg cash cow.

I had high hopes with Demigod, but I'm afraid after how things have gone down GPG is officially in my trash pile of developers along with the likes of NCsoft.

yep.  this was my first and last GPG game.  SD has stated repeatedly that they budgeted for GPG to provide updates.  GPG not providing them in a timely fashion means they think more money can be made working on supcom2 instead of providing support for DG.

Despite this latest affront, I'm still more than likely to buy SupCom2 when it comes out (barring a reviewer trashing related to dumbing down and whatnot).  Out of the box, SupCom: FA is still the best RTS I've played in years.

Shame they don't put much effort into long-term support for their titles because GPG is certainly 'capable' of delivering excellent games.

Valve and Blizzard are the only developers I trust.

All GPG had to do was spend the little extra capital to invest in their brand and I might have bought supcom 2 when it comes out, but why should I buy a multiplayer game if they refuse to support the multiplayer community?

god dammit I really hate it when this shit happens in the pc games industry

its developers releasing games like this that cause people to pirate, because it just isn't worth shelling out £40 for a new game that is ridden with bugs

e.g. sedna healing wind bug - easiest fix ever i imagine, just lazy developers + no comment on fire TB auto-attack

Hellgate: London - released early, tonnes of features promised, they never came, in-game chat barely worked - for an MMO is unforgivable - players left in droves - Flagship Studios (developer) disbanded
Titan Quest - expansion pack released with game breaking loading problem causing big lag, no patch ever produced - Iron Lore (developer) disbanded
CnC3 - tonnes of QQ on forums about overpowered combos / exploits, took months for fixes, during which time 90% of the community left

i think SD/GPG are actualy trying to learn from these companies... instead of fix the problem just move right onto the next project (ei. Elemental, SupCom 2) and pretend that the DemiGod incident never happened.  and since this comunitee isn't large enought for any large scale boycots their sales of the next games will never know the diffrence. :'( X(

Indeed, those two are setting the bar very high for everyone else, though Blizzard have stopped making games I'm interested in actually playing.

Others I trust are Frozenbyte, Relic (although DoW2 didn't help with this, they seem to be megapatching it as we speak) and the Creative Assembly.

hmm lets  see  i like EA games  with all the sub studios  and so on   i like relic games on the most part  (dow2 was better in multi beta then now) hmm hae  couple of valve games NC soft  is pretty cool

lets  see it from this point of view   SD has already said that they are getting the around about  amount of money the expected so they have our money so why the hell should they  even bother with the game  they got what they wanted  plus all i have seen from the posts of frog in the past week was  the same as we already knew

they said about modding tools  as 1.2  1.3 is what exactly

and when will the new content fit into there plans  before or after  the good players leave  or never

woppin could u name some creative assembly games

@shake   couldn't they have used fireball and just  made it smaller  for the actual attack then added so  slight movement

The Total War Series.

Empire, Rome, Medieval, Medieval II, Shogun. Plus a bunch of expansion packs. I guess they have a similar place to GPG in that they make a certain type of game that other companies don't seem to want to touch - larger scale RTS.

http://www.totalwar.com/

And I'm a little surprised you like EA...I mean I'm as happy as the next guy that BioWare now has a hilarious amount of money backing them up to make The Old Republic (even if I'd have preferred Kotor3) but EA have been pretty nasty about nearly everything in recent times, from over-zealous DRM schemes to gimping the PC releases of sports games.

I do think EA are moving in a better direction with the Crytek/Bioware model over the in-house sweatshop model.

ahh i have a total war i think    i like EA  for  a handful of games  one being BatlleForge  it is a sweet free game but over all i dont leap at EA games but i have to say i like them as in ill look at them but i wont buy them  just because it is from them

Hahaha this is hilarious. People are so used to Stardock updating us nearly everyday and giving us patches every week or so that when they dont say anything for a week or two we have been "abadoned" and "they dont care about us".

I wonder how people would have dealt with Kanes Wrath. 2 patches given over a period of about 2 years or so? We have had 12 over 3 months. (I know, lots were hotfixes - but soooooooo many RTS games dont even get this hotfixes released as fast as Stardock).

Games usually get updates from developers monthly - we get them weekly. And patches are usually given every 2 months or so at the least. Here we have had them weekly, sometimes even twice a week or so - even if they are just quick hotfixes.

SD wont abandon the game  they have there reputation as a publisher of the people to up hold  GPG on the other hand proberly will supcom 2  is there main focus i believe that GPG has aactually realeased 2 patches out of the 16-18 ish  we have had

Just saw this from frogboy from another thread -

One of the first things you'll likely see (ETA next couple weeks) will be that the connection info will put the player's experience score as part of their connection data.

Was posted here http://forums.demigodthegame.com/359540/#2307867 on 7/18/09.  Only thing I've read indicating that some sort of patch will be coming out in the next couple weeks...

he said likely  not definetly so that next couple of weaks will proberly be next month/ 2 months    most of the people in big companys now how to lie with out actually lieing

using word  like proberly and  might and likely   these all basicaly say  it might be done then but it might be done a year later

Despite what you may believe, most companies don't lie to the Public. They're not evil beings who surive by eatting babies and kittens and who's entire purpose to be a stain on the carpet of humanity. Frogboy gave an estimated time frame because he's, very honestly, not sure when it will be done - however he's also advised that work is happening.

Yah, they just refuse to put content in that people want.  I feel burned by GPG (will never buy another game produced by them) and a little upset that SD would publish for them.  But I will still give elementalist a shot.

Prolly my last post, sick of waiting for bug fixes and content and a friggin "no ai take over option".  F**kin rediculous.  Whats wrong with game makers these days??

Shortlived, this is at least your third post claiming to be leaving because Demigod is horrible. I believe you even made an entire thread to announce to the world you were leaving for good. What's happening there, mate?

Just don't forget to close the door.

History repeats itself.  DG is ripoff of Battle Realms.

Don't believe me?  Listen to the quotes from Erubus compared to the Necromancer.

UbiSoft (the Publisher) killed BR in very short order.

If 1.2 EVER comes out, it would suprise me this late in DG's "life".  They got the ROI in the first 5 months, after that it's a timesink.  Small publishers don't make money on improving the games, only initial release numbers, then it's time to move on.
