Invalid zip code when running weather widgets

Invalid zip code when running weather widgets

My computer was shutdown incorrectly when the breaker in my apartment went off. Now, when I run a weather widget, I get an invalid zip code error. I uninstalled and reinstalled DesktopX, but it didn't help. I cleared the widget cache, but I still get the same error. Does anyone have any suggestions? I never had any problems running anything in DesktopX before this.

Stardock release anywhere, his own accuweather template scripts, objects or widgets, that allow to use? o_O

My thoughts are that Weather.com has made a change.  One that is not "broken" but has fixed leeches off their service.

This could mean that any weather widgets using Martin's base code would fail.  :(

Time for someone more skilled to look at what weather.com is doing or what the dx code is doing . . or find another weather data source.

Stardock licenses the feed to accuweather.  Weather.com is not licensed but has been free for personal use.

An RSS feed might be the way to go at this point.  http://www.weather.com/weather/rss/subscription

surely there is a more reliable weather feed than weather.com or accuweather...

My mother has used Weatherbug for years, always reliable for her.

I have an older version of a sidebar weather gadget that feeds from Weather dot com.It has radar on it,but they were forced by Weather dot com to remove the radar feature on all future updates. I wonder if they have taken this one step further.:maybe:

Anybody thought to ask the person who made the July weather gadget if he would release his script?? I would but I don't know him.

yahoo is a partner/licesnee of weather.com.  They pay for the feed.

Having same problem... Can't wait for a fix????
Every DX weather author will need ot update their code to use some other source.  This might be a good time to rethink using external files with code snippits.  :(

Oh well....I guess I'm going to have to check the weather the old fashioned way....actually get up out of my chair, walk outside, look up in the sky, and feel with my senses.  Kinda trippy.

From what I can tell....it's only the "CurrentConditions" information that is borked......I have the same issues with my Samurize configs, however all "Forecast" information still works.

This would seem to be Weather.com trying to generate some Desktop Weather revenue. Be careful of their "Free Trial"...they take your credit card info and unless you cancel prior to the end of the trial they just go ahead and bill you.

Or try using METAR information.

So I'm a newbie to DesktopX issues.  been using for a long time - have only made basic edits/ additions never created an entire theme from scratch.  I typically stick to entire themes rather than loading individual widgets.  I am having the same weather widget problem as the rest of the world!

The zipcode error comes up before the rest of my desktop loads.  I do run desktopX builder. when the desktop is running normally I can make any edits I want to the widgets and objects in the current theme and save them etc etc.

I can't get the edit menus to come up when selecting the items because of the zipcode errors!

is there any easy way to delete the weather widget from the theme before I load it on the desktop? 8C

Thanks!
