Hey...
I bought Demigod today and i till i played online i really liked it...
but then i got the same problem like you but i got dsl 6000.and i cannt play without hard spikes its dammed for the other guys.
I think its not the Problem of my pc system and my web isnt slow. What can i do for better latency?
What is your Speetest.net rating?

my hardware:
QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, 2833 MHz (8.5 x 333)
ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (1024 MB)
4 gb ddr3
i read that is must open te ports in my router close firewall and antiwiresoftware.
I did it but only my lobby ping is normal 100 ms and then ingame 1500...
I am having the same troubles and its pretty disappointing. Started the game lke 5 days ago and so far I only have been able to play one single 2vs2 which worked flawless.
All other numerous attempts to start 3vs3 ended in me quitting because of massive, ongoing lag spikes.
When I enter a lobby I get very high ping to everybody and it takes a while to settle down to normal values.
In game I get around 800-900ms lag spikes every few seconds.
Speedtest:
I even removed the router to connect directly to my ISP, but it did not help at all and made no noticeable difference.
I never had any trouble like this with one of the other games I played online and when I disconnect from another attempt to play a Demigod due to lagspikes and go straight to another game, there everything works flawless.
Hopefully you will be able to fix this soon, otherwise I dont see another choice but to make use of the refund option you offer. I can see the fun potential of this game in big MP battles, but unfortunately the game in its current state does not allow it.
okipoki ! thx for your fast answeres !
i dont got a router a connect directly with modem ! firwall off and nothing changed ! its not possible 2 play 3on3 or something like that ! i try all to fix it closed all programs but noway that sucks rly hard ![]()
I have DSL, and I don't have many problems. Well, I have problems with the fact my latency to everybody is like 200~300 MS in the lobby, but during the match it rarely lags (a few lag spikes here and there, but nothing unbearable.)
Your problem is your upload speed. You only have a 130kilobit upload speed.
For best results:
1. Make sure you close anything in the background that's using the net.
2. Avoid games with more than 6 people.
v1.01 of Demigod will reduce its bandwidth use by "35%" so that will help too.
But 130kilobits is = 15k per second roughly (nearly old phone modem speeds). Demigod requires a broadband connection. We're doing out best but in the age of Windows XP and Windows Vista that assume higher end networking even if the game itself uses 8k per second, once you add Windows' overhead you end up with 16k based on GPG's tests.
so if the game started my ping goes to 2000 ms hardcore spikes from 30 seconds ... my upload is between 15 -20 kbs ..
I pay 50 Euro for this game and now i am not aple 2 play thats a joke a bad joke .
I hope i can play the game soon , or i must bring it back !
im no official but i can tell u, u cant compare all the games u listed with demigod. these are all server/client based games. in demigod u dont have that. its a peer 2 peer game, means all of u host the game in the same time sending data between all of u. i play DG with dsl2000 from germany no problems in 2v2 and 3v3. i dont know where u from but in germany internet companys says allways u have dsl1000 or dsl2000 (etc.) but that doenst mean u have the full speed. its just the max speed of ur internet. ur upload seems kinda extremly low... so if ure sending data to 3 other players (2v2) this will cause the lag spikes ;(
i can just say its bullshit -.-
my upload is to bad for this game Oo
all other games i am playing i got 50-90 ms and not sth like 1500.
I see a lot of guys n the lobbys with the same problems like me .
I cant play 2v2 its the same problem...
ports in router are open every programm is closed.
its not really funny and the singel player ist so interesting....
Demigod uses P2P. First person shooters/MMO's use client/server. Totally different. P2P is reliant on your upload speed not so much your download speed which is used in client/server.

I think he might just get the message now ![]()
i know how it works ![]()
i will not buy new internet for demigod -.-
The connection i sreally unplayable in 2on2 3on3 4on4 and 5on5.
Lobby ping is normal since yesterday c.a 100 ms but ingame.... only spikes.
As already pointed out, your upload bandwidth is insufficient. However, as already said, the upcoming version of Demigod will reduce the bandwidth consumption per player and you will probably be able to play at least 2on2s without problems.
You can't think of it that way... more internet speed is always a plus. Next time you upgrade, just look for faster upload speed. If you knew how it worked you'd know that the lobby ping is seperate from the in-game ping. In a game, the bandwidth required is much higher, therefore your pings in game are much higher. I know this because it happened to me. I upgraded my connection for 10 dollars extra and now I'm playing 5vs5 games piece of cake and to top it off, I am downloading files and uploading media faster than I ever could before. Big difference.
Even though his upload speed migh be pretty bad, i am flabbergasted by this game needing 16k/sec UPLOAD to play online! considering i played starcraft and warcraft 2 on 56k modems back in the day... (which translates to rougly 4kbyte/sec) without problems. 200 APM was standard those days, that is, over 200 commands per minute, or 3-4 clicks every second. The only data that should be sent are the commands ordered by the player?
I got my friend to buy the game and his connection can't even handle 2v2 (handles 3 players in a game great). He has about 1 megabit down and 108kilobit up - rather piss poor. Now he's probably gonna have to switch isps in order to play. Any plan on when 1.01 is to be released to the public?
I'm flabbergasted that the game crashes on 60% of alt tabs, the crappy upload requirements is just the ketchup on the cake.
You probably played said games on Windows 98 where UDP packets did not have so much baggage attached to them in the name of "security". You probably were also not playing many 5 on 5 Warcraft 2 or Starcraft games very often.
Right now, in Demigod 1 vs. 1 uses about 4k per second upload. At 5 vs. 5 it uses around 26k. Half of that data is due to Windows XP and Windows Vista overhead.
In addition, many users have many programs running in the background using up bandwidth. For example, our testing revealed that a utility that comes with Thinkpads calls hom for messages every 15 seconds using 10K.
Users who have very marginal upload speeds will probably be helped substantially by v1.01 which is expected out in the next week or two. However, those users would do themselves a favor by turning off programs that check the internet or call home.
In our 1 on 1 help sessions, we've found many users with marginal systems seeding torrents, auto email checking, downloading Windows updates, Adobe updater, Quicken updater, unknown iTunes related upload traffic. For most people, this traffic is incidental. But for someone with a poor connection, it makes the difference.
durring gaming i closed everything witch use my internet ,
i will wait for the update.
But 26 k upload?= 26000 kb?
crazy....
Does Supreme commander use P2P aswell i wonder ? Because i have been able to connect to max player games there without a problem (whats that.. 8 people?) and i get issues with a 3V3 in here
