Of course, it's a long way from even being started...just playing around with ideas right now, but I thought I would share.

10 min history lesson, a little C4d, throw in some PS CS3 and a couple of brushes and hopefully something like this would work.

Naw...Seth, your Indian name is enhesse vlekcv (don't ask me how to pronounce it; even if I got it to sound right, the Creeks would tell me I talk Creek like a white woman) - it means, "my friend the doctor"

vStyler's Indian name (as far as I'm concerned today) is Hesaketvmese.  It means God.

Ah, so that's why nobody has sighted the monster since... you were skinny dipping and it scurried away in disgust at having seen such stiff competition :-"

man do I miss a lot from my youth

Me too! But that's what I get for now living on the other side of the World.  I mean, I love living here in Oz, but I sure do miss some of the Devonshire way of life at times.... going to some of my fav haunts and running amok with my mates.  Oh, and the genuine scrumpy, too.  Tasmania makes a reasonable apple cider, but the original scrumpy leaves it behind.

Anyhow, back to the WB...

A while back Halben did a Native American WB that was quite nice, but for me it was a little too glossy in places to compliment some of the Native American desktop themes I had assembled.  Such themes deserve a more earthy feel, I believe, to remain in keeping with the traditional Native American way of life.... and your WB is shaping up to do just that.  However, I posted the link to Halben's WB, just in case it prompted a thought or idea you could use.  He also did a cursor you may be able to draw ideas from.

All the best with it, Karen, I await the outcome with bated breath. :) :)

"Persistent"....that's a really nice way of saying obscessed!  My family is not near as gentle when they point this out about me. :)

This looks like the start of something great! I like the color combination and once you add in the textures it'll really pop. Can't wait to see the final product.B)

Wow! Looks pretty nice - the colors are easy to look at and detail is going places.

Will be good to see it finished. Very good start!

I'll think about it, but some Native Americans consider them offensive and tacky.  They originated with the Ojibwa tribe, and it was a cradle ornament, to placate very small, frightened children to sleep, with a legend that the dream catcher would filter out bad dreams and only allow good dreams in.  Many Native Americans view dream catchers as a commercialization of their culture -- kind of a stereotype thing, but some see it as a symbol of tribal unity.

Obviously, being married to Brian, I've been given an education I never could have gotten in school (especially the really white schools I grew up in, in Wisconsin in the 70s).  We learned "about" American Indians in Wisconsin history class, but that's not the same as learning OF American Indians and especially, FROM, American Indians.

What I've come away with from all of this, not only when it comes to my husband's struggle with his ancestry (his mother is white, his father is Muscogee Creek - he was belittled by both sides, and the divorce only made it that much worse), but also the quest my children have had for their ancestry, is to pay respect to where one has come from, but to focus much more attention on where one is going.
