Entrenchment rocks: Stardock the next blizzard?

Dammit frogboy, I have a life to live. Stop making awesome games.

I just finished a single player game with entrenchment. Worth the $10. The game dynamics are totally different and totally awesome. Unfortunately, the game is still addictive and long-lasting.

A hit and a sweet expansion? Could Stardock be manufacturing great games consistantly?

Well, I certainly hope so.  Sins is a promising start.

Galciv2 is good as well.

And this was how blizzard started anythin can happen

Swing and a miss! Its Ironclad who made Sins thought I'm sure both of them appreciate the praise.

Sins is indeed good, but to really break into the market long-term they need to think about offering some campaign type content.  Expansions will probably sell fine but I'm not people will be lining up to buy Sins 2 or Sins-in-a-different-setting unless it brings something fundamentally new to the table, particularly since SP skirmishes seem to be proving the most popular part of the game.

I always feel bad for ironclad when i read these posts. IRONCLAD, you know....the developer of the game?

I think the question is whether IRONCLAD will be the next Blizzard.  They are the ones who developed it.  And I think Ironclad is definitely becoming a major force in RTSs.

Stardock = next EA

Ironclad = ... Well I don't know if they will be the next Blizzard. The game is great, but it takes so~ long for a match. ;) For me to get back into Sins I need more settings to make games faster.

SD should puchase Maxis from EA. Then you could have Will Wright on the Galciv 3 dev team.

Stardock = next EA

Nonononononnonononono... NO. EA is huge and evil and corrupt and pop out a new Rock Band or Sims or crappy expansion every week.

Stardock > EA

Nah, ironclad doesn't milk every once of money the games have = )

And besides, they're actually willing to take chances.  Blizzard makes quality games, but they don't really take many chances.

Stardock being the next EA would be very bad.

And lets not even go down the DRM fiasco that spore and mass effect became.

Actually EA started out like SD so you never know.

Frankly, I would rather have Stardock remain Stardock than be "the next" whatever.  Maybe they can get bigger, but they should still be Stardock.

As for Ironclad, I very much enjoy Sins and I very much enjoyed Starcraft and Diablo II (never was much of a Warcraft fan in any iteration).  Both Ironclad and Blizzard are on my trust list until proven otherwise.

Ah, I am assuming developed means wrote. Excuse my ignorance of the video game making world. Maybe I should search for that speech you gave on game making.

Something that captured my interest when I believed Stardock AND Ironclad worked together to write Sins is that the games Stardock has published have been fairly diverse. They have either been original or they have reinvented something in a new and exciting way. Gal Civ is different than Sid Mier's take, and its certainly different than Sins. Yet both are fun. Demigod looks promising as well, and it seems unique. And where does WindowsBlinds fit in?

Don't beat yourself up over it, it's a common mistake. Especially since Stardock develops their own games: Stardock developed GalCiv 2.

And I think Ironclad is definitely becoming a major force in RTSs.

I hope so. Sins is a very innovative game, and well worth every penny I spent on it :).

And where does WindowsBlinds fit in?

If I remember correctly, WindowsBlinds is Stardock's core business. It's the product that pays the bills.

Ironclad had one heck of a hit on their hands, I wonder if the 2 remaining expansions will be as good?

Whoever said Stardock = next EA? BURN EM! EA= EVIL Garbage.... I do hope both Stardock and Ironclad expand and keep on do great things.

I suspect that Ironclad will be to Blizzard what Atlus is to Square Enix.
