Working on the connection code

What kind of router do you have?

Please reply here with what kind of router you have, including brand and model number, what kind of modem you have (brand and model), the name of the company that provides your internet connection and what kind of connection it is (DSL, Cable, T1, Satellite).  This will help us to determine if there are models that are commonly having problems so that we can try to make it work for your setup.

Please also state if it works

A) Never

B ) Sometimes

C) Most of the Time

D) Almost always

I'm not going to list E) Always because that's statistically improbable.

If you're having connection problems, one way to improve your chances of success is to open and forward ports in your router. (Note, this won't work on public networks like at a university where you don't have access to the router)  First, go to Demigod\bin and run ImpulseReactorOptions.exe.  Enable the checkbox.  You can either leave the default ports or change them to a different range.  If you are on a LAN, you will need to use different ports for each computer playing Demigod.

Log files you can send in are stored in the My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod folder.  You should send in debug.err (it will be renamed to ImulseReactor.log for release) and files with the extension .csv, but you should zip the files to prevent them from being stripped by the mail server.

Router: None

Modem: None

ISP: Skycom

Success:  High success rate ingame, seems to be quite low during your the CVP tests when more then two from the same lan are in the game already.

I'd let you know, but I've been mainly playing the game at college, where the ISP is Comcast and the network is...well, I have no idea how it's set up.

But in case that information is at all useful to you, I'll tell you that I am able to connect to games most of the time, but I would not say almost always.

I had a fairly new Netgear router (can't find the model) and couldn't connect. Then I switched to a WRT54G CDF8 (v. 3.0) with Tomato firmware and have zero problems connecting to games.

So is a D-Link DI-604 (DL-604?) hub a problem with Demigod... is it old problematic tech or is it inconsequential? I saw Frogboy`s post elsewhere stating older devices are not equal to newer ones. My Motorola cable modem however is beyond my control - fairly new as far as I know, but entirely in the dispensary hands of my provider (who provided it).

using a WRT100 v 1.0 (fairly new router) with current firmware

success: Through Beta 3C very high connection and completion rate.  In Beta 3D-E good connection but 20% of games end with 3 seconds of game freeze and someone being dropped by the system into an AI-only game.

In Beta 3F this has happened in *every* game with more than two players.  I cannot complete a team game in Beta 3F.
