Hmm.  Not seen that before.

Hold down F4 on launch and post the messagebox that is shown just before it crashes.  That way help us narrow it down a bit.

Hi,

I did what you suggested and all I get is the word "Graphics"!

I have been having the same error since the newest update. I also tried holding F4 while launching and the only thing copied to the clipboard is "Graphics".

It launches fine, but within a few seconds of it coming up to the main screen it will crash. It seems like it happens once I put the mouse cursor over anything on the sidebar.

I only hope Stardock will come up with a solution!

Mine crashes everytime too!  Frustrating...

Anyone knows a solution?  I emailed stardock support, but no response yet.

To tell the truth I stopped using this program for a few good reasons.

I used it for a while and was very happy with it at first. Then found it did some strange stuff with other programs.

Seems a lot of tweak programs for Vista and even Win 7 are just not what they where cut out to be.

I have a reponse "Uninstall The Program" till they fix it!! That and figure if you need to restore or reinstall your OS.

Some so called tweaks are not needed as with what you figure yourself. Thus a lot of programs as this do more than what they say. Thus you find a system with bad errors due to system files being changed or that is HACKED up a bit. Try running this command and refer to this page from Microsoft...

Good luck!

If anybody at Stardock is paying any attention to this forum...

I think the problem we are all having with the latest release of TweakVista is that there on-line setup is corrupt. For one thing, v1 setup file as downloaded is over 4MB. In Impress it says it is 2.?MB but when you go to install it only 1.18MB is actually downloaded. Go figure!

Guys, we're going to need more information to try and solve this problem, because it's not happening here. What OS are you running? On what kind of computer? Did you update from a previous version of TweakVista, or do a fresh install? Had you previously run the trial version of TweakVista, or only ever the release? Have you installed the latest .NET updates from Windows Update?

Impulse's size counts are sometimes a little off. In particular, if you are upgrading, you may not need all the files and so the amount actually downloaded may be less.

Well, I followed Shellbygt_the_Car~!'s advice and checked Microsoft's article. I checked the system files, they were corrected and TweakVista runs again just fine!

Thanks Shellbygt_the_Car~!

Just thought I would add my two cents although a few months late. I have the same problem with it crashing soon after start up. I then tried the trial version and have had no problems.  Shellbygt_the_Car-! solution according to the info at bottom of page does not apply to my  "Vista home premium edition". I tried solution with no success. I never tried the trial version untill after I purchased object desktop and installed the version that came with it first. My computer is a  "Gateway model GM5639E desktop". 4 gbs. of ram and hard drive less than 50% full. My computer also has all the lasted important updates. I did contact stardock and they replied with a solution that fixed a problem with my virtual desktops which involved some registry changes but no effect on tweak vista. But for now I am uninstalling it. Thinking Shellbygt_theCar-! idea is a good one. It would be nice to get what you paid for though.

                                 Thanks for time   Mike

my tweakvista logonstudio and bootskinvista all crahing giving stopped woorking error

All of these programs run on the Microsoft .NET platform. It is quite possible that your installation of it is broken in some way. Please try following the directions in this article to repair it and other system files:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2007/03/26/how-to-repair-the-net-framework-2-0-and-3-0-on-windows-vista.aspx

Another possibility is that other software on your computer is incompatible with DirectSkin. To test this, try renaming the "wbocx32.ocx" file in the TweakVista directory, and start the program. If it runs without it, I suggest putting it back and temporarily closing/unloading other software running on your computer, then trying to run TweakVista and seeing if that fixes the problem. (If so, we need to talk to whoever makes that software.)

Same problem almost a year later. Just bought ObjectDesktop and installed tweakvista, trying to launch it results in

Problem Event Name:    CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01:    tweak7.exe
Problem Signature 03:    4baa2216
Problem Signature 04:    mscorlib
Problem Signature 05:    2.0.0.0
Problem Signature 06:    4bf4c743
Problem Signature 07:    1a34
Problem Signature 08:    5c
Problem Signature 09:    System.InvalidOperationException
OS Version:    6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1

Renaming wbocx32.ocx and restoring the system files using sfc /scannow also didn't help. I have Microsoft .NET platform 3.5/4 installed properly, everything else is working fine.

I do have vista 64 ultimate if thats relevant. I think that stardock should look into this again.

OK, so if you hold down F4 when starting, what is the last message box that appears before the crash?

Process Listbox... whatever that means.

It means the list box of processes. This suggests there may be a program running that Tweak7 isn't happy with.

You could try narrowing it down by closing down running programs (including things in the system tray) one by one and seeing if the application still crashes. If there's one which seems to be causing the crash, we'd like to know which one.

If none of the ones you can close easily are doing it, perhaps you could run tasklist from a command prompt (start/run/cmd) and copy the output to send to us?
