new achievements

new achievements

it's a minor point, really, but some players might enjoy a few new achievements themed around the expansion content. examples like:

starbase killer: destroy at least 20 enemy starbases

mining: deploy at least 2000 mines

paranoiac: destroy at least 1000 mines/ build 100 scouts

planet bound: win a game without constructing a single starbase

starbase entrepreneur: earn at least 10.000 credits from starbase income.

maybe there's more, but a handful of new ones wouldn't hurt and would hopefully not be too much trouble.

I like that idea Annatar.. though you are right that it is unlikely for it to be done in this expansion. Maybe in the diplomacy one these things could be fleshed out more?

Speaking of THIS expansion though, any news on this 3.0 patch? I thought it would be here yesterday.....

The meteor damage dealt achievement could be called: "y'all without Sin can cast the first stone..."

Yesterday was unlikely, since it was just submitted Friday afternoon to SD.. today is more likely but since Yarlen hasn't posted a change log yet, I'm leaning towards "not today".

No Need for the Big Guns on This One: Destroy an enemy SB without using any Cap Ships or Anti-Structure cruisers. (or using only basic frigates)

Run and Hide, Run and Hide: Deal 10000 damage with the disrupt antimatter ability of your starbases.

Raised Him From a Pup Myself: Get a capital ship to lvl. 10 through experience.

A few more ideas...

Diplomats:  Win the game without bombing any planets. (You use Culture to do this.)

Woah, I like Golden's, though that would be really difficult and time consuming!

Perhaps get 500 credits / sec by trade ports only

After some thinking, I came up with some achievements that I think would be worthwhile:

  • Let there be light: Build 20 Illuminators within 15 minutes of the game starting.
  • Light Show: Own 50 Illuminators.
  • Fancy Light Show: Own 100 Illuminators.
  • Good lord, really?: Own 200 Illuminators.
  • Facepalm: Lose them all to a single Marza's Missile Barrage.
  • Then We Shall Fight in the Shade: Defeat an opponent's fleet that had more than 100 strike craft squadrons.
  • Mega Maid: Deal 20,000 damage with Drain Planet.
  • Pizza Delivery: Fly a single Cobalt to every gravwell in 30 minutes or less... or it's free!
  • Zergling Herder: Assault an opponent's homeworld with 20 light frigates within 8 minutes of the game starting.
  • Trashtalker: Type three times as many chat messages as any other player yet lose the game.
  • Tenacity: Lose every colony but one and then conquer your opponent's homeworld.
  • Battlenet: Host a game where every other player quits within 20 seconds of starting.
  • Masochist: Win the game using nothing but flak, colony, and siege frigates.
  • Geek Card: Name 20 of your colonies after star wars planets.
  • I Find Your Lack of Faith Disturbing: Win a 2v2 after your ally thinks you suck and disconnects.
  • Jita: Build 9 trade ports in a single gravwell.
  • King of the Hill: Trade ownership of a neutral extractor with an opponent 10 times.
  • DENIED: Interrupt a Marza's Missile Barrage with a stun.
  • Chugga Chugga: Drop to 10 fps while watching a battle.
  • Scheming Dirtbag: Obliterate 50,000 credits worth of allies with Safety Override.
  • Britain: Lose a colony to Rebels.
  • Politician: Receive 100,000 credits worth from allies, then turn on them.

Well, SP could have some gameplay bonuses for achievements. For example, there's a set of achievements for giving stuff to other players. Completing all of them can unlock "diplomat" status/title, which then gives you a 10%/20% longer mission duration in game. Completing the Go Big Or Go Home + other capitals related achievements can reduce the cost of capitals by 5%, or increase their hit points by 5%. Stuff like that. Every time you start a new SP game, you select one "title" to take, so you don't get all the bonuses stacked on.

Of course it's not going to happen, but if it were..

I like this idea! That is the reason why i bother with Mass Effect achievements, they actually effect something.

Raised Him From a Pup Myself: Get a capital ship to lvl. 10 through experience.

This already exists: "Capital Ship Captain" or something..

And for accomplishing all achievements "Gotta catch 'em all", of course (No, i'm not a Pokemon fan ;))

Or maybe something related to the games name "The Sinless One" or "The Mortal Sinner" whichever is more approriate.

I'd like the achievements to record which of the maps you've played and won at hard level or above.

'Britain' is a little crudely titled, perhaps?

'Tea Party' - lose thirteen colonies to rebellion
'Found One!' - destroy a weapon of mass destruction
'Remember the Maine!' - scuttle your own cap ship
'Thats the way to do it!' - research everything
'Hell hath no fury'- defeat three Advent factions
'Money isn't everything'- defeat three TEC factions
'Don't step on an ant'- defeat three Vasari factions
'Tis my vocation'- capture a pirate Cutthroat and rob another faction with it

I have more- no, really.

I thought of a few more:

  • Mushroom Mushroom: Build 12 Marzas followed by 2 Dunovs.
  • Tent Owner: Kill 20 ships immediately after construction.
  • Stop Poking Me!: Click on a Marza 15 times.
  • There... Is a Danger: Get a killing blow on a starbase with a fighter.
  • Flawless Victory: Win the game without losing a single combat ship.
  • Divorce: Have ally break a peace treaty with you, then lose half your stuff.
  • Sadface: Lose a level 10 capital ship.
  • Zoning Board: Prevent 5 buildings from completing by killing the constructor.
  • HAI: Use a Kostura to jump a fleet to an opponent's homeworld.
  • Useless: Sit idly nearby while an ally loses to an opponent.
  • Art of War: Defeat three human players by yourself.
  • Ninja: Defeat 200 pirates.
  • Pirate: Defeat a player who earned the Ninja achievement.
  • Feedmonkey: Win a team game without killing an opponent's ship.
  • Gingerbread Man: Evade a fleet by repeatedly phase jumping.
  • Rawr: Own 100 Kodiaks.
  • Candy Mountain: Lose an unguarded planet to two allies that turned on you.
  • noclip: Fly 12 strike craft squads through a star.
  • It's Just a Flesh Wound: Get a capital ship under 100 hp back to full health.
  • Working as Intended: Kill 60,000 credits worth of a single unit type with 15,000 credits worth of its hard counter.
  • Mad Skillz: Kill 60,000 credits worth of a single unit type with 15,000 credits worth of the unit it's SUPPOSED to hard counter.
  • Evil Genius: Own 6 superweapons. Mwuahahahaa.
  • Robe and Wizard Hat: Earn a peace treaty by flirting with an opponent.
  • Wherrrrres the Cheeeeeetoooos?: Play a LAN game with three friends.
  • "Accidental" Needroll: Colonize a planet that an ally liberated.

isn't that one if those already included? doesn't it require getting all artifacts in a single game? I could be mistaken, but I think that's what it is.

I actually like the feedmonkey, though it's a bit similar to the 'donate credits to allies' achievement. but it's an interesting avenue, if there is a push for mp achievements.

how about 'combined' achievemnts, such as 'have a combined (i.e. sum of all allied ships) fleet strength of 4000 fleet points.'.

No desintegrations:  Destroy 10 Vasari Starbases.

That's what She said:  Destroy 10 Advent Starbases.

In TEC Argonev, Fleet owns you:  Destroy 10 TEC starbases. (Maybe i'm wrong, but it seems TEC starbases have semi-Slavic names)

(Numbers arbitrary)

Put the Star in Starbase: Build the maximum amount of Starbases in a Stars gravity well.

Hornets nest:  Have over 50 squads deployed in a single gravity well. (Strike Craft)

Entrenched:  Max tactical capacity on 20 planets.

Cool ideas. Just on this one, perhaps ship based squads don't count?

New Achievements would be nice to see as i have done around 70% or so of the current ones maybe a bit higher have not looked lately.

I think they are fun to collect and earn gives you a set goal(s) for a game. To be honest thats why i started favoring the Vasari was doing thier achievements before that i was a TECie all the way.

I agree.  I said this earlier somewhere.
