Ahhhh.... where my friend did you get your copy of Windows 7? And im running Vista now, but am looking forward to the nice additions that 7 seems to be bringing. Is is stable enough to run as your main OS?

The public version of WindowBlinds is not currently Windows 7 compatible.  It does run but it has no idea what to do about that new taskbar & startmenu!

It will probably be a few weeks before you get to skin Windows 7 with WindowBlinds.

How about the other Object Desktop components ?

Is there a listing posted anywhere as to what works (fully, partially, or not at all) ?

Mainly interested at this point in Deskscapes, Tweakvista, LogonStudio, Iconpackager, and Fences.

Deskscapes not working. Cursor FX is working. Logon Studio Vista is working.

Fences is working!!!  Icon Packager works. Note, these are preliminary findings as I install. Bug reported later.

I'm afraid to try Bootskin, Neil, what do you think?

Here it opens up but you can't scroll the skins. The window is too big for the screen, it is under the taskbar. It does skin the windows.

Under no circumstances should you try BootSkin Pro on Windows 7.

What resolution are you using?

It fits on screen on my machine.

1280x800 laptop. But there is no scroll bar for the skins, no matter the res. Even if I autohide the taskbar. Reinstall?  I will not try bootskin, thanx!

Do you think current skins will adapt to 7, or will we have to wait for new skins?

How did you get Fences working.  I downloaded it and it worked at first, but then I rebooted and it gave me an error that said Fences does not seem to be loaded.  You may need to re-install

As I stated above, these are preliminary findings as I install. You are correct, fences does not run after reboot.

Jim,

What version did you install? Or is there a version choice like Vista? When I explored the DVD it appears to have the same choices for install as a vista DVD, Basic, home premium, and Ultimate.

I am waiting to do a full backup tonight of my current Vista install before I install the beta so it will be tomorrow before I check it out.

Not being able to run or create dreams would stop me from running the beta on my main system with out a dual boot.

Derbal213 and PuterDude,

Thank You kindly, i will give it a go and see what it's like, i am looking forward to this. :)

Keep my fingers crossed that most of it will work with my apps and games. :)  That would be wonderful!!!

Take care and thank you again,

-Teal

Quick Question:  Was it difficult to setup? Or was it fairly smooth?  Just curious before i start the installation. THank you!!

Does anyone know if Stardock intends to do any kind of 'public' Windows 7 beta testing for it's software?  I always love trying out new stuff, and helping SD get itself in order before windows 7 comes out publically is the kind of thing I'd love to do.

Quite possibly...but the issue is that the OS is still in Beta...so compatibility can/may be broken between now and when 7 goes Gold.

Similar issue occurred with Vista....XP.....2000....98.....95......[you'll see a trend]...;)

I think it was the smoothest I've seen, at least for a full install, which I did on my new laptop.Only rebooted twice, i think. Maybe just once, now that I think of it. Let it get updates before installation.
