This guy is ussaly TEC and im Vasari. In the beginging he always gos for the early economic advantage then straight to LRM spamming really early game and i cant beat up his fleet. I was oping someone could give me advie on how to aproach this situation. We always play really small maps like 10-15 planets. Also he always knows what im geting so he can switch his army up really fast.

Rush him, Nano-Disassembler will kill him1v1 on small maps. you just need to kill his nonexsstant fleet then his frig factory then his cap factory then millitary labs then civilian labs, dont kill his planets just take out the rest and keep sending out replacement forces. when you hit him he has 3 planets/astroids you have 1 but a fleet. As soon as you kill his small fleet you should be able to kill the ships he builds faster than he builds them.

In longer games on small maps Tec will have a small advantage over vasari as your greates strenght is null and void... Phaze stabilizers are win in lategame just keep hitting him where his fleet is far away oh

lastly, carriers >>>>> LRF, strikecraft with phazemissile reshearch will destroy his lrf's ezmode

10-15 planets is just big enough that rushing might not be possible.  If you have a fairly clear path to the guy, you can hit him while he is still in the economic stage with Assailants...otherwise, you have to get carriers with fighters to counter LRM spam and try to get your own econ going. If he goes Kodiaks and doesn't have fighters of his own, you can switch to bombers.

Vasari econ is about fast expansion with the Evacuator and grabbing the neutral extractors on the map if there are any.  Do hit and runs with your carriers, but otherwise, try to make him fight on your terms near your repair bays.  Mid game is hard for Vasari because the ships are so expensive vs the cheap TEC spam.  Just keep an eye on the other guy and make sure you have counter units to whatever he is building, get your phase gates up, and use them to raid and rapidly reinforce.

The main thing to remember is if you can't kill the TEC guy fairly quickly, you will probably need your own Econ/tradeports to survive, so expand, dig in, and get a few tradeports of your own up.

Space egg > all in early rushes until support cruisers come online.

the cost of phazegates comes back later via RA's cheap ships

No one said it is easy, you have to fight for it.  If you have such a hard time with Vasari, why don't you play TEC for a while.  Then, if someone kicks your butt with Vasari, you can take notes on what they are doing.

You could always scout rush.  Should be viable on a 10-15 planet map, as long as he isn't more than three jumps away.

Find his home planet and send 3-5 scouts to it in a pack right away.  Kill his construction drones with your scouts.  Keep your scouts circling his planet gravwell and bring them in to kill drones every time they respawn.  This should keep him from getting Trade up in time to beat your rush, because he won't be able to build research labs.  If you do this fast enough he'll have trouble even getting LRMs....Follow this up with Egg + 10 LRMs and reinforce and should be GG in 10 minutes....

You really have to be close and find your opponent fast to pull this off, but when it works it's priceless and hard to counter

and then he does the same and you start off having scouts cirkeling eachothers grave wells and are otherwise back to square 1. something needs to be done about tha tactic, it is rather silly imo as soon as it is emplyed it forces everyone to use it or die. Gorced tactics are not *making the right stratigic desisions* it's following a set pattrn. Im thinking give planets 1 fighter squard pr infrasructure upgrade or something like that.

This advice to rush or use scout rushing really is not helping this guy become a better player.  By all means he should attack if the other guy is going straight econ and has no military, but otherwise pinning all your hopes on an Assailant rush or a scout rush will pretty much lose someone the game if they can't pull it off.  And if the scout rush does work, it will work one time against the same guy, and then he just goes back to losing again.

Besides, only the smaller 2 player maps are good rush maps...he said he was on 10-15 size maps.   A lot of them have several jumps, or a star gravwell crossing to hit the other player.  The small random maps actually make for long games sometimes, because the enemy can be behind a lot of worlds.

If the TEC player is not close enough to attack before they have their econ up, you have two choices...go straight military and hope yours is still bigger before those tradeports start paying for themselves, or get your own econ up while you expand.  Beyond that it is about using the proper counters to enemy ships and making smart decisions about where and when to attack.

Yah, good point, Cykur...

[suitably chastened] :pout:

No more throwaway one-shot strategies, then.

As an aside, you will get much better if you develop against many players, instead of just one.

PM me if you want to get a 1 v 1 game Saturday morning, OP, and we'll see if we can't find some solutions.
