So I was wondering - what is the deal with Idlebot. He/She/It sits in the forums, never says anything and has no game history.

Is anyone else curious about this, or able to shed light on why idlebot sits there?

(I'm bored while I wait for someone to log in to play, and idlebot is there and doing nothing...)

Exactly -- since the implementation of Alloy, ICO has been watching online gameplay and getting smarter.  Whenever ICO has a problem, it sends an Idlebot back into the past to warn the Ironclad developers so they can correct the problem before it occurs.  This is why ICO has been so stable lately. The only reason ICO rarely goes down anymore is because the time machine malfunctions occasionally.  There is actually a rumor that Blair and Craig are Idolbots that arrived decades earlier than planned.

i played a 1v1v1 game with an idlebot once, i kept stacking defence forces after i finally got the ball rolling on the guy i was fighting, wondering more and more wtf the green player was doing the more time passed. after over an hour he said in chat that he had just come back from walking his dog >:( he spent all his stockpiled stuff to trench down something fierce too

thank god i was tec so i could just novalith spam until he quit :blush:

He was not the true idlebot then. There were many people creating their own version for the lulz or nov

How true.  DT fielded a whole fleet of idlebots one week just for fun.  I think I was idelbot7.

How do you spam a novalith cannon?  Wouldn't it take up too many tactical slots?

Simple got a lot of planets, put the cannon in a bunch of them then set it to auto cast.

I could understand maybe one use, but otherwise why go through all the trouble to get that many credits?  It's especially pointless in single player, as the AI doesn't usually build any turrets.
