This Forum

is not so helpfull as it could be

let me start with saying i like the stardock products, currently i use windowblinds and objectdock and i'm very happy with it.

however, one thing i do not like is the forum-software your using. it's really not easy to find information in the different threads since the search function is not very good. this is sad because i believe there is so much valuebal information from different users one could learn...

maybe you think about converting to a differnt software in the future...

anyway, keep up the good work!!

The software is written by Stardock itself to suit their needs. The search function does seem to be a bit barebones, though.. I don't think you'll find much argument there :P

Yeah, I've never had a results from search. LOL always says no matches were found.

Neither have I and I always show as offline even when I'm looking at my profile - strange...

The search button hardly ever works, but when it does it only seems to find words in the REPLIES to the posts!

Re searching, try just adding the domain name of the forum you're interest in using the site: option that all good search engines should support. I'm a Stardock game person, but I think the parameter that would help you would be site:forums.wincustomize.com. Just type your search terms and add that string to the end, and you should get search results limited to the specific forum.

I use google and search for "[something] site:forums.elementalgame.com"

/me needs a ubiquity command for that.

OH wow. I'll try that out. Usually I just google what I'm looking for and tag on Stardock, or Sins of  a Solar Empire haahh That string at the end should help a lot!

but why would you program your own forum-software....?

  1. i guess it would make more sence to concentrate on the development of your products
  2. there are so many good forum-software around for little money
  3. if you implement a good forum-software with a good structure, you can eliminate a lot of support work

anyway...  B)
