Pre-Ordered and in it for the Long Haul: Sound Off
Ok, I'm all set! Now, let's sound off. Who all has pre-ordered and are actively monitoring the forums.

I played tons of other games, but missed the original MOM, but because of hearing good things i looked it up, and played it on dosbox about a year ago, it was awesome!
And btw... I am 24 and I started playing at age 6. so 18 years now
Heheh, no kidding. I think the first computer game I ever purchased by myself was by shelling out over $60 for Ultima III when it was brand new for my Commodore 64. Seems like that was back in 1983 when I was still in high school. That was definitely one of my most memorable experiences with a game as before that it was mostly arcade type games and RPGs were just taking off.
I was another that missed the original MoM. I am not really sure how I did as I really enjoy the type of game that it is. I guess I was still too busy playing Links at the time and had yet to experience how much fun a 4X game could be
.
Well, if you can, do yourself a favor and dos-box it. Especially if you're in the long haul here so you know why we want this game to be made.
I finally ponied up to be preordered for the beta in a few months! ![]()
I've been posting on forums here for a while (since I heard about EWOM) Looking forward to getting some of you better - some great ideas being posted!
And participate in the contest! ![]()
i'm pre-ordered up
I'm in. I first had to get a credit card, because until now, I didn't have one. But elemental is a good reason to have one...
Just remember to treat the thing like an ATM card and not actual credit and you'll be OK. Using a card and keeping it paid off is good for your credit history, and these days even potential employers use credit reports to poke into people's backgrounds.
Hmmm. My Impulse had some problems. Now I ordered it 5 times... Hopyfully, this can be undone. ![]()
If you made accidental orders, contact [email protected] to cancel them.
Sorry, can't. It's not the best time to tie up disposable income. But I wanted to at least sound off on my support for the dev efforts, as this is a game that I'm looking forward to playing.
Count me in. The journey is as important as the destination. ![]()
I just pre-ordered today, very much looking forward to it. Curious, Impulse lists a release date of February 15th and yet the blogs on the website say beta will come out in June. Any ideas on what the timeframe for a beta is?
that is "Feb 15th" of 2010 << check the year
They promised us the 1st beta by june of this year. Though there are subtle hints by frogboy (the ceo) of a alpha stage release to select few community participants who have high karma. (there is a contest going on right now if you want to get some easy karma just in case. There is also chance for free shirts or PC games)
Re "promised us," don't take that too strictly. No contracts are involved, and the more often us peanut-gallery folks call a dev forum post a promise, the fewer such posts we're likely to see.
Plus, one of the reasons I'm a very loyal Stardock game customer is that they seem to stand alone in their "Sell no wine before its time" attitude. They are not afraid to slip a release date because they are good at deciding when they'd get even more grief by calling bits gold when there's still some serious lead in the alloy. That's fuzzier for a beta, but even there I'd expect them to postpone if, for example, the pre-beta process had inspired some significant changes that needed a couple-few more weeks to polish.
I'm not talking about a forum post. I was talking about 3rd party sources. I'm talking about press releases such as the IGN article and other such things. I wouldn't be the one to call them on such a thing anyway, its done when its done. I'm with you on that. Too often are things released before they should and stardock clearly does not do that. I used "promised us" mainly as a contrast to "implied" anyway. It is directly stated in press releases that the beta is in june, so such verification has been given to anything else, even the map thing (though that is pretty clear to be the truth, it isn't in any press releases that I've seen)
I have of course preordered this game.
Count me also in.
I've also preordered the game. Looks interesting.
Looking forward to the time when beta begins! ![]()
I'm in. Stardock + MoMish game? Yes please.
I don't think I've ever been more excited for a game.
Proerdered and anxiously awaiting my chance to help make Elemental awesome.
I'm really glad stardock came along and decided to go and make all the games I've wanted for a long time but no publisher has had the balls to finance. Now if Stardock would somehow buy Relic and announce a Homeworld 3 project, I think I could live the rest of my life never buying from another game company.
I'm in... And hungry for every bit of information... ![]()
I played it! Although, not as much as I would have liked. I think I just had a demo, so I didn't get to fully enjoy its gameplay. Pretty advanced for back in the Windows 95 era.
Its true! Truely a piece of art. I'd buy a second copy if I could just so I could give it to people, sadly nobody sells it new. On a mechanics level it still almost stands up to modern games, though lack of things like multiplayer or predictable AI seriously hurt it. I know that if a *good* (good is the keyword) multiplayer version of MoM came out today, then it would likely sell very well in the indy market. (mainstream wouldn't take to it, but the type of people happy to pick up a $10 title with AAA gameplay at sacrifice of graphics) This shift-eyed man who isn't me is by no means suggesting anything that would go against any rules of this forum, but rather just making the statement in case any people are interested.
*shifty-eyed character approches*
"Do you have an uncle named Jeff" he asks. (monkey island reference)
(reguardless of what you answer; he'll tell you that with the power of google and dos box you can obtain a copy of Master of magic. Its largely considered "abandon-ware" meaning that it is effectivly public domain in terms of some copyright laws. It isn't entirely public domain, since atari still owns some of the rights, but when it comes to distributing the original 'abandon-ware' there is apparently nobody able or willing to claim it. So no FBI warning or anything like that. So... if you're interested in it, you may have it at your finger tips.)
Preordered. A new MoM is my dream for many years.
I pre-ordered this game a looong time ago (within the first couple weeks of the announcement, I think) but I don't think I ever posted here.
I figure this would be a good last post!
Just so people don't think I've given up on the game or anything I'm going to be traveling for the next 3 months, so no elemental discussions for me ![]()
On the plus side, the beta should be right around the corner by the time I'm back!
