I'm calling you out

aka Who would you like to play online sometime

Some of us have been playing Sins for quite a while now. And there may be a bunch of people you have played with that are in your friends list.

But is there anyone who you know of that you have never played a game with/against that you would like to??? If so - let them (or at least other people) know (this is not for clan matches, especially from the DT bashers - just people you would like to play with/against for the fun of it).

One of the ones I want to try is The Monk - does his Sins stacks up against his tech support  And no ping flooding to get me to drop out...

So to The Monk - I am calling you out!!!

I'll go big and call out Blair or Craig. They never got time to play a few matches with us like they were hoping towards the end of the beta, so they're pretty overdue...

It WOULD be pretty awesome to set up a 5v5 vs the Ironclad developers.....of course, they would have to stop working on Entrenchment for a few hours.  =)

Yeah.. there was a "dev game night" shortly after launch, but only a few Stardock guys showed up, at least on non-smurf accounts :P

I am completely up for a DT vs Dev match.

I am also using this thread to call out all the people who host but kick DT members because we "stack" the teams.  Well, here's what I have to say to you:  If me joining stacks the team, even if we do 3v6, then maybe you should get better.

hehe....O:)

I can tell you right now Hack.  I am seriously lacking in SINS-skillz.......however I will gladly play a game with you (and others) and be the student.

Maybe we could set a time for sometime this weekend? (if you're still interested...hehe) We can even join my TS Server for the game so you can share my pain as I lose....

Anny and How feel free to join in.........Cykur......well I think getting spanked by you once is enough!  ;)

I am now in the beta group, but perhaps I will go back to v1.05 for this epic battle.

I haven't played online since the first week of launch :P

Come on the beta, I promise it won't minidump...much.  I should be available to play Friday night and Saturday.  Tonight is a little busy for me.

Can you spectate online?

I'll bet +2 karma on The Monk

<Hack slaps The Monk in the face with his gloves and throws them at his feet!!!>

Join the club - most people have been spanked by Cykur at least once.

I REALLY need to get around to installing that - I downloaded it and got no further... :)

The closest thing to spectating is getting in a game that doesn't have locked teams, having everyone share vision with you, and you scuttle your own planet and ships.  I think that will work as a kludgy sort of work around....

Spectate would be a nice option -- maybe we will get it in a future mini-expansion.  I don't think it would be too hard to implement.

The issue that would exist with it is that since Sins is P2P, and simulated on all PCs, any lag from the observation deck would also lag the players too...

Shame - it would be great for people to watch battles live from the lobby

Yep, I was making the assumption an observer would take a player slot.  They would have to stay in sync so hopefully they are not laggy, but without their own ships, I don't think they would add much overhead to a game.

Man...I don't play much any more, I keep taking month long breaks...with these kind of comments I'm gonna get performance anxiety when I want to play again.

one quick work around idea would be to have the Sins games hosted by ICO remotely from a server, so that not only everyone could host, but lag wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Now, not only does a person need to have the ports set up to host, he/she also has to have an internet connection capable of supporting 3-10 different players.

PaulTA,

I think you've suggested this before (can't find the thread in the pages and pages of "my replies" at the moment) and I don't really have more to say on the subject except that it would not be "a quick work around" by any means, and I repeat, currently SINS isn't acutally being "hosted" by the HOST.  The host is a "host" in name only since each and every player runs the ENTIRE simulation locally, and the host only periodically SYNCS everyone together.  I don't have any hard numbers for you, but I'd wager that the actual bandwidth required by SINS is negligible (relative to most other games).

back on topic..... ;)

<picks up the gloves Hack threw on the floor......hmm.....nice leather.....thinks he'll keep em!  O:) >

Let's set it up Hack.....I'm ready to learn!

Anny, How, Kitkun?  Anyone else planning to join in to watch/help/prevent the "schooling" of me?  How about we do what Anny suggested and take on the DEVS instead?  hehe

Maybe we should turn this into a pay-per-view TV event!  :w00t:

Oh and Cykur!  Enough with the modesty.......you're a shark and you know it!  :P

I am up for either being your ally or enemy.  Cykur is a DT boy, so we have played a lot together, but I don't mind helping you out a little.  I am also up for taking on the Devs.  Perhaps we should PM them?

[EDIT] I PM'ed Blair.  I gave him the link to this forum thread.  Let's hope he responds.

In other news, do we want to have the battle in the beta version or v1.05?  I am currently in Beta 3, but I archived v1.05 so I can go retro if you want me to.  Let me know.

[EDIT] I vote for having the battle in the Beta.  It is rock stable, and I CAN HOST NOW!  That and I will have an unfair advantage as I have been perfecting my v1.1 tactics.

Blair's gonna kill me

Nah.  He responded to my forum post on Beta 3 bugs.  If you are talking about laying the smack down in game, that may be another story.

No, he's gonna kill me for calling him out for a game :P

In all seriousness, it'd be great but I wouldn't count on it. He's pretty damn busy :( The biggest chance we'd have to get a game with some devs would probably be after Entrenchment launch when they're in their slightly-more-relaxed-and-not-chained-to-desks mode!

By the way:

To Monk, Anny, and whoever else, I will be on the Beta tonight, so if you want to brush up your MP skilz, come join.
