Installed SDC but I'm only seeing a beta version from 10/5/2007 1.90i[b].020

That's build 537, install it and see if it fixes the tray problem.  Post and let us know.

Oops double post.

Boy is OD+ really screwy.

I discovered I was on 538 for quite awhile without any tray problems after looking at some older backups.  Then I lost my tray somehow and on Impilse I uninstalled/reinstalled and got the release I mentioned in one of my posts above.  After this I changed my Weather icons and when I got back into Impulse it said I have an update.  I ran it and I got 538 and no tray.

I then ran SDC and uninstalled 538 and then reinstalled.  Now I have 537 with a tray.  But as I said I was on 538 and had a tray until yesterday.

Pretty strange.

Yep, it sounds just like what I experienced with build 538.  So far Build 537 installed through SDC has given me no issues.

I'm using Vista 64bit and am encountering the same problem. Is the 537-build already supporting tray icons for 64bit? And if not: Is there another possibility?

And if not: Is there another possibility?

Wait until the developer returns to work after the weekend and perhaps it will be something simple resulting in a quick update.

I'm waiting for someone in this thread who has Vista 64bit to say they have un-installed OD Build 538, re-booted and installed OD Build 537 with SDC to post if this works.  The only other possibility is to install the most recent stable version of OD (Build 535) with Impulse which shows up when you have Beta Releases turned off in preferences.

To summarize the possible choices right now are:

OD Build 537 - most recent Beta installed with SDC

OD Build 538 - most recent Beta installed with Impulse

OD Build 535 - most recent non-Beta installed with Impulse.

IMO changing my weather icons shouldn't cause Impulse to trigger a bogus update.  I guess Impulse uses a hash to keep track of things.

OK I just tested the 537-build with vista 64 and it works great. The tray-icons are shown correctly now.

Good to know. Thanks.

I lost them as well but I don't recall updating OD+ anytime recently.  I only recall opening Impulse and it updated.  Perhaps it updated OD+ and I didn't know it?  Unsure but trying the fix which seems to work from what I am reading.

Just to confirm - I have had the same systray issue, running vista 64 and build 538. I had not updated any of the stardock software or run SDC or Impluse.

I've just used SDC to 'update' to the latest release (turning off beta's) and then after restarting I turned betas back on and updated to 537, and now everythings back to normal.

Now all we have to do is get the system tray to work in DX.

Try reply #9.  As I've indicated it seems to be a problem with build 538 installed through Impulse.  The problem doesn't appear with Build 537 installed with Stardock Central as indicated by me, Hankers and now TheD2JBug.

Ah, ofcourse. I didn't really consider rollback as a "fix". Silly me. :)

The "go back to the non-beta version" fix did not work for me.  Still no tray icons with 1.90+ b535u.

Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit with SP1

Did you read the post?  Have you tried Build 537 installed with SDC?

So what's it mean when I have OD 1.90 b537 installed an running (as shown in OD's about dialog), yet Impulse shows I have 1.91k b538 installed?

Is there a way to 'reset' Impulse's register of what's installed and/or updated?

FWIW SDC shows 1.90i[b].020 as installed for me.

I'm not sure but, I'm thinking that since Build 537 is the latest beta but is an SDC only build, Impulse treats it the same as Build 538 so people don't flip flop between the two builds.

BigDogBigFeet,

I advise everyone to first Archive the version they have BEFORE applying any updates. That way if things go wrong, you can simply Restore that Archive.

In Impulse, right-click on the app and choose 'Archive Application'.

I don't use Impulse.

I opened SDC for the first time in a while, no updates. Rebooted my laptop, and my systray icons have gone!

Installed SDC but I'm only seeing a beta version from 10/5/2007 1.90i[b].020.

same here, which is the one I've had installed with no problems until now, though if I click 'About OD' I get 1.90a ( 538u )

I haven't updated anything from SDC, so I'm wondering about some weird type of timestamp that's messing things up. Can't be bothered to re-install at the moment.

Running Vista Enterprise SP1

Hankers could you please pass on to SD how useful it would be to use Impulse directly to rollback to a prior install. For example if the user could just click a button on the right side of the Impulse update screen to show prior release versions say last stable version and all subsequent betas, it would make Impulse a real star for managing version installs.

This is something that is being explored already. No word on what the latest updates are going to be at this time but this is being considered.

If you are getting the 1.91k(a) version you are likely to have Systray troubles as we can replicate easily what people have been reporting here. You will need to back up to the previous version of Object Dock by unchecking the "show pre-release versions" options in Impulse. That build is a beta/alpha build and is only for test available to the public. Support has reported this up to the developers. Sorry for the trouble!
