So few weeks before beta starts, how many you think pre ordered?

I reckon a couple of hundred? We haven't seen a gameplay video yet, there are still many many details unknown. At this early stage, I should think the "true believers", aka the ones who loved previous games from this studio have purchased the preorder based on nothing but "I like what I've seen so far".

Yeah there has been no gameplay video so people who have preordered are putting A LOT of faith in gpg.

It's not gameplay footage, because it doesn't show UI and it doesn't show what the game will look like for the player. It doesn't even last more than 3-4 seconds. Added camera angles and zooms for effect makes it, probably, nothing like the game will look. It does show us some of the models and animations used though.

At least to me, gameplay = what it looks like playing the game.

while the trailer isnt actual gameplay, GPG has said everything in the trailer is how it looks like right now in actual gameplay, I dunno, was just saying it because numbers can really be made to make a game sound better then it may be, just like false statistics, numbers can do wonders.

I don't know much about Stardock or their previous games... I just know that Supreme Commander is da bomb. That combined with the overall approval of DOTA-style play and the look of the trailer, I decided to pre-order without much question.

Hm.. Think about it: Alot of Dota players will possibly know about this game. Since there are quite a bunch of Dota Players around the world i could imagine that there will be +2k who preordered it.

of course if the maximum amount have pre-ordered to get a beta spot, gpg would have said so, as I believe someone posted that they would let us know when the max was reached iirc. Anyways only real answer is between 1 and the max amount at this point =/

I was playing dota, and asking if any people had heard about it.

Pretty much no one had. Maybe 1 of out the 9 other people in half the games.

I don't care though. I hate DotA.
The controls and movement are clunky.
GuildWars has realllyyy solid combat for an auto-target game. It's the only autotarget game that "Felt right" to me combat wise.

DotA annosy the crap out of me with me losing my selection of my hero, and stupid pathing making my hero go back and forth, and ugh so many things.
Not to mention the damned hotkeys.

And the heroes and items themselves..

The ONLY good thing about dota is the core gameplay(kill enemy heroes to deny them money and xp, get xp and money yourself. Control lanes, push, keep your enemy from getting the benefit from the shared xp on the lane, the backdooring) and strategies for winning. There is a lot of depth there, and that's the good part of the game and why it's a competitive game.
But the controls, ui, etc are so bad. This is largely because it's a wc3 map-mod.. And the balance is pretty BLEH.
