First Beta not till September?

Did the first Beta get pushed back?  I saw a post by Brad saying that "In four weeks we'll be doing the compatibility beta" which he posted on the 9th of August.  He's said in the past that this would be the "first and least fun" beta. (quotes paraphrased).

So, are we looking at September?  Should I calm my salivating with some fried chicken?  Or keep the drool flowing in hopes of a compatibility test in the days to come?

It's really only pushed back 5 days, as they tabled August as the beta start date. so thats anywhere from 1-31

I suppose the Beta will be release wen it is ready to be. Don't put too much hope in specific dates...

Put hope into promised date + 7 days.
You'll be happy when it comes out earlier then you anticipated then :D

They also said "Tentative".

They also said, "Beta."

Release dates for software is always a very fluid thing. You can't think in terms of "promised dates" - there are only hopeful windows.

Beta release dates are even worse. A finished release might get delayed because something unforseen came up that broke it - a beta is generally somewhat broken by definition. That means, there's even more likelihood that it's too "broken" to even get exposed to the public at all.

Stardock Beta's...well...let's just say that there's always a better than average chance that at the last second, some dev is gonna say, "OOOOOOOH! We gotta put this cool thing in before we put it out there. It will be sooooo much better!" That's how they roll.

Better late then bad, that's what I always say!

And I think the last announcement was Sept 5. Apparently they are going to be at Pax and didn't want to start the Beta while no one was there. Or something like that.
