Ethleets Demigod League

Details & Ventrilo Server

Hello future Demigod soldiers.

My Gamer tag is Jooma and I'll be starting development of the new EDL site in the next couple weeks.

What is EDL?   EDL stands for the Ethleets Demigod League. Ethleets is a project Gaming Mockumentary I'm producing. The details aren't important right now but a quick background on the term Ethleets is an Athlete who specializes in electronic competition = Ethlete. And an Elite Ethlete or Leet Ethlete is an Ethleet.

Now that that's out of the way here's the goods.

First off we have a Ventrilo Server that you are welcome to use. It is currently capped at 25 populous until the Beta goes live. You are welcome to use it at your leisure in the meantime for discussing the game, general chat or whatever else you're playing right now.
Here is the connection information:

Host: fierce.typefrag.com
Port: 24576
Password: demigod

Next up is EDL itself. Demigod promises to have a competitive online premise and naturally this should be emcompassed with leagues, ladders and tournaments alike.

As dynamic site development is starting very soon it is important that I work out as many details before hand as possible.
What I'm looking for from you, the players is suggestions on League styles and rules. Use your past gaming league experiences, take what you liked, leave what you disliked and present them to me.

What do you think the rules should be, the divisions and classifications, and what sort of information do you want to see and access on the website.

Please keep your ideas and suggestions as specific as possible for easy implentation.

Thanks,

~ Jooma

Sounds very interesting, perhaps I would like to be a part of it.
I like some things Gamebattles has done, incorporate that into your work, just their flow of the ladders

Of course 1v1~5v5
Make rosters
Once/If we find bugs, do not exploit them
Limit amount of Assassins/Generals if both teams agree (?)
Different ladders
Highscores of some sort, like most kills as Assassin/General
Forums
IRC
Statistics
Video/picture archive
Indepth guides if needed
A Database of items/powers/skills/upgrades/stat increase per level ect. (very important)

All I can think of that isn't completely obvious.

Good luck with the website!

I think Gamebattles has a nice format. Teams are formed, many of the specifics of the match are setup when one team challenges the other, the match is scheduled, played, and reported (by both teams), and the results (best of 3 or 5 team scores) are reported.

I think its great your trying to set up something similar for Demigod, however, I would hope that many of the functions above will be incorporated into the game at the time of release. Too early to tell how to design a supporting league/match site without knowing what the game will have available (clan organization, stats, match making, ladders, etc).

Well, I think the rules will be better to discouse when the games is out in 09.
But I the ideas we can talk about  :CONGRAT:

Maybe some time limit.
Specifik map cykles for each turnament.
The info about every turnament should be easy to find, on the website or IRC with more...
Ranks and stats. - maybe some "bagdes/marks" u can put next to your account/profile, like in SC.

The thing that kinda keeps me playing games, is the "new'ness" in it. U could perhaps have events, news blogs and maybe some prizes for certain stuff... "like the guy that gets closest to beat the NR.1 player in demigod, will win something.

Maybe you could start a Clan called EDL or something, to get some publicity/attension, so ppl would think - "That clan is good, maybe i should check out they website" and then they will found out that EDL is a tournament (community???)

Good Luck With It All  :HOT:

Well if your plan does come to fruition. And things start working out good for you. You could probably get someone to Shoutcast it(like Deman/A_spec for SC/FA) especially if it's an intense as the devs say it is. Or failing that you could find someone who really likes to roleplay to watch the match and write battle reports afterwards. As a child of technology I much prefer the shoutcasts though

I think it's best to plan ahead, but at the same time know what the game contains before coming up with the details and specifics, but it does sound interesting, I'm a rabid dota player so I'm sure this will be great for ppl who want better graphical version of dota
