[Tutorial] Modeling, texturing and importing models into Sins...

Hi this tutorial is going to focus on everything that was left out from the documentations in the Forge tools provided by sins and also will include helpful tricks.

List of things covered

 What you need first…

 Modeling, the lost tutorial

 Texturing and you

 ConvertXSI and you

Oh, S*** not good…And you. (How to easily preview your model in Sins, model too small, ship flies sideways, textures not showing up, bugs and problems)

Thanks to CanadaMan777, ManShooter, cptkeys for  the help. IF you need any help or confused just aim me at soviet911, and i will try to help as much as i can.

This is great. All I can say is, Kryo, come pin this! Anyways, the mod has one thing I prefer it did not... bad grammer... I hate to be the English teacher here, but I'm obsessive compulsive, so every typo bugs me...If it is alright with you, I would like to go through it and fix the typos as well as adding an index and some hyperlinks so that someone can just skip to the section they want...

Oh, and ermm... who do you have as your background?.?.?... :NOTSURE:

that was provided by candaman777, and yes if you decided to modfiy or improve up on it, please do so, i will apreciate it as much, and obviously credit will be given. I dont realy have that much time right now, need to fix my car, college and working on tb skin, still need to start that, so if you want to go ahead, and then you can send it to me and i will host it through file front, unless you want to. doesnt matter to me as long as it help ppl out. so yehh.

I had the misfortune of actually seeing that commercial on TV. What I would give to erase that from my mind...

Can anyone helpp me on this one. It may look stupid, but after the first 2 tutorials by Nuesis, I don't know where the forger tool is, and it is the first step in the tutorial... And same as SemazRalan, is there a tool to import .mesh files into XSI?

Thanks a lot :D

I dont have Word or Office. So I cant see the pics. However I got a question about the dotXSIconverter. Using the cmd does not seem to respond to me my workstuff like all my 3d tools and stuff is located in my E: drive. When I use the cmd and do cd E:\Softimage\XSI_6_Mod_Tool\Application\Plugins it doesn't do anything. If I do cd C:\ then it returns to C:\> just fine, but it wont go to E:\.

So we are converting XSI to mesh, how about ascii?

I'm having a small problem. Everytime I import my brand new model into Sins, it's so small you can hardly see it, and I've tried rescaling it the way it explans in the tutoural, but it's just not working!

I've had that problem before. It seems that XSI doesn't actually resize the model when you click the resize tool, you need to try it in another 3D program.

There's a handy tool I found on the forums that helps you resize your models... now I’m just having some problems with the textures and colors when they are displayed in sins. My models are always displayed as what ever color the team color is.

If i remember correctly there is 3 texture maps (dds)  for each ship One is the bump map  {-nm}  {-da} seems to be the team color map and the {-cl} looks like its the normal texture map . I think you need to create another map and rename it simmler to the stock maps.  I am think im wrong on this but had to throw it out to confuse and annoy all:d

It's all good, actually it was the alpha channel that was messing me up, but that problem is fixed.

Now I just need to change the orientation on one of my structure models, it's laying horizontal, I need make it vertical.

Can I import my models that I've already made in Maya, over to XSI, or do I have to build them all over again?
