At first, I want to say that I'm no native english speaker. I just tried to create an AAR because I liked others on this website and because I wanted to practise my english skills. So, if you find grammar mistakes, just say it to me (I think there will be quite a lot), I'll edit it

Prelude:

Earth – 2033:

The worldwide market for oil crashed because there is just no oil left. To produce sufficient energy, the amount of nuclear plants worldwide has been multiplied by 20.


Earth – 2080:

The Greenhouse effect resulted in a terrible climate change which makes living on the surface unbearable. The population dropped from 12 billion in 2033 to 5 billion due to famines and constant warfare for water. There are only two reasons that no full nuclear war broke out:

-No uranium is left, so 70% of the nuclear warheads are used to fuel the growing amount of nuclear plants

-There aren't enough techs left to keep the whole rest of the nuclear arsenal operational

Nevertheless, some nuclear warheads have been launched and killed millions.


Earth – 2087:

A small researcher outpost in Antarctica managed to developed an easy way to create energy using cold fusion. It also managed to create new forms of yeast-based food which can even grow in the wastelands, except those created by nuclear contamination. In a selfless act, this technologys are granted to everyone in the world. After decades of decreasing, population grows for the first time.


Earth – 2165

Humanity has recovered completely. Parts of the surface are taken back, the population grows and grows and has already topped the 21st century by 12 billion people.


Earth - 2200:

The population reaches a critical level with 35 billion people. Birth controls seem to fail, but thanks to new technologies, there are still enough resources to supply all humans. However, the remains of the old nuclear plants become a risk. They cover a high percentage of the surface. Nobody took care of them for over 100 years. They will still be radioactive for a few million years. And they now endanger the yeast as they are beginning to lack. At least there are only very, very few nuclear weapons left.


Earth – 2215:

They lacked. A catastrophe which is going to be even more devastating than the climate change in the 21st century is about to happen. Suddenly, some very strange things happen. Huge storms are going over Earth. Rumors are that some scientists failed in trying to create portals that could be used to travel wast distances. However, people who are incidentally caught up in this portal storms find themselves on a new world ...


Earth – 2218

The effects of the portal storms are under control now. Scientists can switch them on and off as they like, at least for most times. The world government in Antarctica decides that 8 billion people will be relocated on the new planet, which is now officially called "Gaia". It is strictly prohibited to relocate more people than the new planet can feed.


Earth – 2220

Scientists discover that Gaia isn't just a planet in a remote area of the space, but in another dimension. In this dimension the laws of physic seem not to work like here. The most surprising difference is that in this galaxy speed is not limited by light speed. Moreover, the Gaia universe seems to be even smaller than our own galaxy! A few weeks later, the Gaia universe is called "pseudo-galaxy" all over the world. The world government decides to start building colony ships and a survey ship to discover and settle the whole pseudo-galaxy. What surprises are waiting for the new founded "Portal Union"?

 

Gaia – 2225-February

Our new colony ships, called "Expander MKI", are exploring space. We already discovered some promising star systems. Suddenly, an unknown signature is detected on the sensors! A few minutes later we receive an audio signal. Fortunately, our best computer linguists developed a terrific new tool, the "Universal Translator" which can translate them in english. It actually makes sense!. We detected intelligent life! Jack Ryan, our recently appointed leader, coming from the Populist Party, is shocked.

"Maybe we can't colonize more planets. Yesterday we made contact with another Civilization, the Drath Legion. Our diplomats were sent to them, but since the Drath seem to be capable of Interstellar Travel, they may have colonized all planets already."

Gaia 2225-March

"Last month, we made contact with the Drath. We thought they were the natives of the pseudo-galaxy. This proved to be wrong. Portal storms hit their home world in 2215, too. Moreover, we recently made contact with another Civilization, the Thalan. Like the Drath, this insectoid species seems to be new here. Because the Portal Union thought it was unchallenged here, our colony ships are now spread in remote star systems, were they found planets which are even more attractive than Gaia. Alpha was hits 10 points, and Beta 11 points on a scale were Gaia is got 10 points.

Unfortunately, the other races seem to be eager to colonize planets for themselves. A Thalan colony was founded last week in our very own star system."

"On Beta we met yet another Civilization. They are not as advanced as we are, they are like the people of Europe in the early 19th century. Portal storms seem to have happened on their planet as well, but they can't control it. When we asked them what their home planet was like, they said that it was a beautiful world before their star "began to grow" 10 years ago and they fled into the portal storms. We think they talk about a supernova, this planet seems to be their last refugee. We relocated them so we could build our citys, but there aren't as many of them, so it won't be a problem. We began educating them, they seem to be rather intelligent. We discovered signs of alien civilizations on other worlds as well, also this were only some artefacts. They seem to be quite evil, and we do better in not using it. Surprisingly, on this worlds, there was no sign of intelligent life. Furthermore, the life on all discovered worlds seem not to be as adapted to their environment as they should be. Our scientists think that they were brought to this worlds by random portal storms as well."

"This week, we made contact with two new major Civilizations, the Altarians and the Yor. While the Altarians look actually like humans, the Yor are robots! The Yor aren't too friendly, either. We located Yor colony ships heading for Alpha. A planet in this system is still habitable, but we don't have the capacity to get the planet before them. While writing this, our brave colonists settled on two Planets in the Thindor system. The system was renamed to Gamma System and the planets where called Gamma and Gamma Minor, Gamma is a class 12 planet while Gamma Minor got 11 points on the scale. There is still another planet in this System which ranks 9, but we don't know if we can get it before the Thalans.


In other news, explorers detected a cluster of an unknown substance. Scientists think that this material could be very valuable, and some constructors will leave next week to claim this "galactic resource".

Gamma System-2225 April:
Our sensors showed an incident at the last uncolonized Planet in this system. Union, Drath and Thalan colonists raced for settling the last planet. As it became obvious that we would lose, our Expander changed its destination point to the unknown regions near Yor space. Between Drath and Thalan, it was nearly a fight. The Thalans arrived first, but the Drath refused to turn back. They seemed to be willed to ram the Thalan colony ships, but the Thalans persuaded them to turn back, since the planet was pretty near to their starting planet, Thalan.

Gaia/Yor space-2225 May:
We met another civilization, the Arcean Empire. They seem rather militaristic, but we think we can live in peace with them.
Our Constructor arrived at the unknown resource, hours before the Drath arrived. Since the resource was in the Gaia System, the Drath had no chance but to leave. I think they are really pissed of.
We detected that this resource can be used for healing and will boost our moral.
Our last Expander arrived in unknown region, but it seemed to be too late. Two weeks before they arrived, the Yor had settled in the only star system there. The colonists tried going on, settling a minor planet at least. But as they arrived, they saw that the Yor settled on a class 5 planet and left a class 8 planet untouched! Experts think that Yor didn't think that anyone would come for such a remote planet. Now, we have another star system, Epsilon. As our telescopes on Gaia detected no more interesting star systems in this pseudo-galaxy, the building of Expanders has been canceled.
Instead, we are constructing another constructor which hopefully can give as another galactic resource. If the Yor don't come first, that is.

Gaia-2225 June:
Damn, the Thalans got the resource. Bad Luck.

Gaia-2225 July:
We started to develop a great Trade Good, diplomatic translators. Unfortunately, the Arceans developed them to weeks later first and don't allow us to make our own. As we signed a copyright law treaty with all other Civilizations in the recently founded "United Planets", we have to accept this.

Gaia-2225 September:
The pseudo-galaxy is developing. We learned much about the other Civilizations. The Thalan home world is overcrowded and famines are imminent, it could endanger the whole species. The Drath seem to have devastated their planet while making dangerous experiments, the planet was even cut into two halves. The Arceans seem to have destroyed as good as all life their home planet due to biological and chemical warfare. The Yor didn't want to tell us what happened with their home planet, but there are rumors that they cut to deep into their planet in search for metals which ultimately led to a cataclysm in the planets core. The Altarian home world has to face a climate change, but the climate change on earth was a walk in the park compared to theirs.
Some religious people think that god created this pseudo-galaxy to save all this species. Scepticians say that he would have done a bad job then because on some worlds there are signs of Civilizations which are already extinct.

Nevertheless the Portal Union and the Yor are the big winners in the planet race. As the latter seem to detest all organic life, we have to have a close look on them. Another danger is the Drath Legion which seems not to like us very much. We will have to build up a military presence.

Gaia-2226 February:
Everything is going well. Trade has been established with the Altarians and the Yor. Although our military capacitys are negligible, our first libell-star fighters have been produced.
More important, the steady flow of refugees from Earth leaded to a discussion weather the Portal Union should get a more democratic constitution. After a long time, the bill was signed last night by Jack Ryan. He now runs for being Supreme Chancellor with his Populist Party. His biggest rival is Sienna Rem from the Pacifist Party. Many people see the pseudo-galaxy as a kind of Garden Eden and think we would ruin it by doing anything that could destroy the harmony in this galaxy.
In fact, the pseudo-galaxy is pretty stable at the moment, although there are tensions between the Yor and almost everybody else.

Gaia-2226 March:
The Populist Party won the elections! Although they got only 44.2% and have to make a coalition with the Merchants Party with it's 9.4%. The pacifist party got only 26.3%. Jack Ryan announced to boost the trade in the galaxy, as well as putting more money into military.

Gaia-2226 July:
A discussion at the UP ended in the Yor accusing the Thalans to have no right "to harvest the galactic resources near Yor territory", going on to accuse the Drath's new embassy on Westernfeld to be a "cunning tactic to distract the Yor people and a big menace for the whole planet". The Drath shouted back that the Yor obviously have had a memory lack because the Drath were the first ones to settle down in this sector. All in all, the Yor are not making friends in this galaxy. We think that they would have threatened us, too, because of our planet Epsilon near to their territory, but our efforts to trade with them speaks for us.

We analyzed several ships of the Yor now. Our fighters are no match for them. The worst thing is that they have developed an effective armor against our mass-drivers. Maybe it would be better to change our research prioritys. The Thalan recently offered a couple of interesting rocket technologys in order to befriend us in the case that the Yor are going to attack. The Yor will, sooner or later, be a threat to the Portal Union, so I advice you, Supreme Chancellor, to make the deal.

Gaia-2226 October:

The Yor declared war on the Thalans. This came rather surprising, as PU intelligence says that the Yor don't have the technology to send millions of troops for a planetary invasion, the war seems therefore pretty useless.
The Pacifists Party blames Jack Ryan for doing nothing against this escalation. According to confidential sources, he sent a constructor near the war causing galactic resource to "take advantage of the war". Some people even say that the PU government was not completely uninvolved in Yor actions.
"This is just nonsense", a speaker of the Populist Party says, "The Pacifist Party just thinks that way because they don't want to believe that there could be militaristic species except the humans". A speaker of the War Party thinks: "they just want to justify their request to stop militarization at all costs, even with a crazy conspiration theory."

The half-annual election of a third of the parliament was a major victory for the Populist Party. They now control 58 seats which allows them to break their coalition with the Merchant Party and to rule alone. The other big winners are the Federalists and the War Party thanks to the Yor-Thalan war. The big looser was the Pacifist Party, they got no single seat, so they are no longer a force to be reckoned with.

Really good! This story is like totally cool beans and stuff. It would be cool if you put in pictures. It is a bit compicated, but you first make the game part screen, then you hit the "Print Screen" button. Then you paste it into paint. Once you do that you can copy the part you would like to keep and past it into annother paint and save it. Then you put it on to Imageshake and put it into here.

Today anyone who thought that all Yor are inevitably evil have to confess that they were WRONG. On SkowboII, an unpleasant planet, the Yor declared their independence from the planet and joined the Portal Union. "This was unthinkable only a couple of weeks before" Pack Nuor, governor of Alpha, said. "It is not uncommon that Yor are working on Alpha, or that our companys helped the Yor on this little nasty planet. It seems that the Yor really like our way of life, and that they are not as evil as the majority thought."
Palas Suprior, leader of the opposition on Alpha warned: "Don't think that they just like us. The Yor don't like our way of life, they don't like organics at all. They just couldn't stand to stay on this damn planet any longer. Luckily they aren't humans, won't get full civil rights and will not be allowed to vote. That would be a catastrophe for humanity!"

Today there has been a major clash between Yor and Thalan forces near the Epsilon System. A Yor fleet destroyed the Thalan mining complex completely. As planned, our own constructor began harvesting the resource. As the Thalans have been spotted to launch a counterattack, I don't think the Yor will do anything against it. We paid enough money to their administration for this ...

The Yor collective has started another war! The Drath are now on their list, too. This could be an indirect revenge against the Portal Union as the Yor immediately started attacking all trade routes from Dratha to Epsilon. Jack Ryan said that "new weapons are currently being researched, our army is strong, and the Yor are no threat to us at all".

A new election, a new looser: The Populists. In the last half year, evidence has come up that the Populists were really involved in starting the Yor-Thalan war. Moreover, many believe that this ultimately led to the Yor-Drath war which cost the PU several profitable trade routes till now. Big winners were once again the Federalists, and the Pacifists celebrated a comeback. They could have set up their own government together, but the Federalists decided to work with the Populists. "Better than working with those tree-hugging idealists", said a speaker of the Federalists.

Our Kolibri Frigate and Libelle Fighters upgrades are completed. They are now able to handle the Yor fighters. Moreover, our engineers developed a new fighter class ship: The Jumper. There is just one laser cannon installed, one life-support unit, the rest is all impulse-drives. It has only one goal: Find undefended galactic resources or troop transporters, and destroy them. We gave this to the Drath and hope they will use it wisely to make a hard strike deep in the Yor space.

At the UP meeting today, the Yor showed their embarrassment as their former military resource seems to have changed it's ownership to the Portal Union. The Portal Union says it didn't know that the resources belonged to the Yor, as when the Union's constructors arrived, there was no mining complex visible at the monitors. The Drath Legion then claimed to have destroyed the mining complex "in a war the Yor had begun". After a heated debate it was approved that the Portal Union are now the legitimate owners of the galactic resource. The Yor warned the Portal Union not to try to trick the Collective. Surprisingly, they set up a peace treaty with the Thalans directly after the meeting. Military experts opine that the Yor need more resources for the Drath war right now.

Alpha-2227 August:

The Drath are not doing well in their war. We received information from the Drath that they lost a major space battle over Westernfeld. It is even worse: Yor troop transporters have been spotted on their way near Alpha. We may not allow The Yor to conquer any world, or the balance of power between us and them could be changed in favor of the Yor. We ordered to quickly build a new Jumper, though this will be expensive. We think it can start next week and destroy the Yor transporters which seem to be mainly unguarded since the Drath fleets in this region have been destroyed.

Success! The Jumper was able to destroy all transporters. A bad day for the Yor, a very good day for the PU and the Drath Legion. As the Drath build a new fleet on Westernfeld and as they have now two of our jumpers, the planet is, for the time being, save.
But, the Arceans are more interested in what's going on than we thought. After the Drath made another strike against another starbase of the Yor, it have been those guys who immediately sent a constructor to the resource. Aren't we having some of our specialists training some Arceans? We have to order them not to spoil our best tricks!

Tj: Yes, yes, of course. Freedom of speech is guaranteed even in the UP manifest. But many people think that the building of this so called "Influencer-Star bases" is a little more than that. Some even compare it to the works of Propaganda-ministers of the 20th century, like in China or the Third Reich.
Solusar: This is exaggerated. Just look at what this bases do. They don't initiate parades with the PU flag on Gaia Minor or Thindor II, not on Thalan ground. They merely send some flyers, broadcast some shows, and offer anybody inf...

Solusar: Yes, of course, there is the one or the other party where even some Thalans appear. There's nothing bad about that, is it?
Tj: What do you say about reports that on one of this partys where "some" Thalans partys appear a PU general taught potential rebells how to fight, and how to acquire weapons on PU trade routes?
Solusar: I would say he had drunk to much Jelczyn himself. Really, these platforms are completely peaceful. If the Thalans really tried, they could spread their own culture on this very same star base, not the other way round. This star bases are a gift for the galaxy. A gift which helps us to learn more about each other.
Tj: So you say the parliament should pass this bill about adding more modules to the Influencer bases?
Solusar: I don't like the word "Influencer base". But yes, I think this bill should be past. And, as the Populists have the absolute majority, it WILL be passed.

Gaja Minor seceded from the Thalan Empire. After years of mixing with humans and constant medial bombardment from Gaias embassys and, recently, influencer star bases, they think the PU will provide them a better future. Hithetius called them traitors and banned all Thalans which joined the PU from Thala and their original home world.
Hmm, original homeworld. Do you remember we have a orignila homeworld to? Yes, we did have Earth, you remember? As less refugees come to Gaia each year, many people really seem to have forgotten this planet. Anyway, Jack Ryan announced that the new constitution should be ready for a referendum within the next two weeks. If the people accept, non humans will be able to gain full citizenship and vote!

The referendum has been accepted with 68.6%, which was just 2% over the needed 2/3 majority. We now live officially in a "Star Democracy"

Westernfeld has fallen! Months after the first battle of Westernfeld, troop transporters finally made landfall and began a brutal global Invasion. Insiders say that Westernfeld would have been fallen months before if there haven't been some cunning Drath attacks coordinated with hint of PU Intelligence. However, their luck has finally failed them. A report by military experts:

"This battle is unmatched in history. At least 500 divisions of the Yor brutally slaughtered the Drath on the land. Orbital bombardments destroyed vital supply lines on this icy-planet causing over 100 million victims before the first Yor set foot on the planet. As far as we know, there are about 500 million surviving Drath of once 2.5 billion. Intelligence says that they are enslaved and treated inhumanly. Some PU generals even consider declaring full war on the Yor.
In the meantime, the fleets of Dratha and DrathaIV are staying firm against the enemy. But it may be only a matter of time till the Yor crush them like they did on Westernfeld"

After Gaja Minor, ThindorII joined our glorious Civilization. Welcome friends! The planet was immediately renamed in Gamma Thalan, hounoring the main population of the planet.

The Drath are loosing ground. Several economic star bases deep inside Drath territory have been destroyed by Yor fleets. The Arceans and the Portal Union now openly support the Drath by supplying them with ships. Moreover the PU began with creating a standing army. 1000 divisions will be ready soon, the costs will drain the tax income of 1000,000,000 people. Some think that this is the first step for a major war including the Portal Union.

The Drath won a major battle over Dratha. The Yor seem to lack the momentum to go on with their offensive. Nevertheless, a counterattack by Drath forces seem impossible without leaving their main planet naked.

Epsilon-2228 September:
---PUN breaking news---
MarkusIV of the Yor Collective joined the Portal Union. The Collective wanted to use all Yor on this planet as soldiers for the invasion of Dratha. The Yor there didn't seem to like this.
Loosing this important outpost is a catastrophe for the Yor military. However, the Yor denied a request to dissolve their nearby military star bases which has caused tensions with the Portal Union.

Gaia-2228 October:

Peace! Over one year fighting ended yesterday when the Drath Legion and Yor Collective signed a peace treaty. Military experts think that the war has become to costly for the Yor, and the last Drath planets are to well defended.

Gaia-2228 December:
---PUN---
The UP got an absolute majority in the UP this year. All other Civilizations claim that the UP merely became a "PU instrument of domination".

Dratha-2229 February:
---PUN---
The PU keeps growing. Yesterday the Dratha government joined us, mainly because our military offers them a better protection from Yor. A coup from Drath ultra-conservatives was crushed. Leaders of this right wing fled with a big amount of the Drath fleet to DrathaIV. Experts don't think they are a real threat because the majority of DrathaIV also wants to join the PU.

Dratha-2229 April:

The Drath Legion is falling apart. The regrouped Yor forces started an all out assault on the last Drath world DrathaIV. Experts think that the Drath won't hold long against such an enemy. PU diplomats increased pressure on the Drath exile government to join the PU in order to save the Drath people from a bloodbath.

Dratha-2229 June:
---PUN---
The last battle of the Yor-Drath war is over. And the winner is ... the Portal Union. After weeks of fighting in the orbit of DrathaIV the major part of the Drath fleet is scattered. Moreover, Yor troop transporters have been spotted leaving Westernfeld. The Drath Legion has no chance but to join the Portal Union. This completely changes the balance of power in the universe. The Portal Union is not far away from complete control over the pseudo-galaxy...

Yesterday another Yor world joined us. We are unstoppable!

---PUN breaking news---
The Yor declared war on the Thalans. N-1, leader of the Yor, officially blamed the PU for this. "Because of their cultural manipulation we lost 2 important worlds so far. To restore the galactic balance, we had no choice but to declare war on the Thalans!"
Not many people are convinced by this argumentation.
Meanwhile, Jack Ryan, who's Populist Party won all elections in the last two years, offered the Thalans to simply join the Portal Union. "The Yor are afraid of us. No one who joins us has to fear them ever again." Hisethius still refuses, but experts think that it is only a matter of time when he sees sense or when he is replaced by another leader who is more willingly to work with the PU.

In other news the annual UP meeting took place today. Many, including Jack Ryan, say that the UP and the Portal Union begin to be the same institution. "But let's listen to the opinions of the other Civilizations. There is nothing better than an open dialog. In the end, however, our bills will be passed."
The UP passed a resolution which will prevent private traders being hunted down by warmongers. "This is an important step to stop the Yor declaring war on anybody else here", a speaker of the Pacifist Party said.

Today the Yor-Thalan war ended without only one shot fired. The Thalan joined the PU, so they are out of reach for the Yor

The new "Star Federation Referendum" has been accepted by an overwhelming majority of the people. It adds the Planets Chamber to our democracy. Representants of all planets will discuss here and have, in some decisions, a veto-right. This federation is likely to replace the UP, which is more or less a simple instrument for the Gaian government, so all in the galaxy will profit from it. As soon as all have joined the PU, that is.

The Arcean joined the PU. "Better joining now to our conditions, than joining later to their conditions later", a speaker of the Arcean Empire said.

Jack Ryan:
"All civilizations have joined the PU. This is a historical moment. The UP have been dissolved, the Planet Chamber will do it's jobs. Earth is almost forgotten, only 4 billion people are left on this boring planet. Some civilization's home worlds decided to shut down their portals, so we probably won't know if they even make it.
We don't know who created this galaxy, nor if it has a purpose. We only know that it will be the PU who will decide the fate of this galaxy from now on.
